AT 1040 AM CDT, DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING  
HEAVY RAIN ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. BETWEEN 1 AND 2 INCHES OF RAIN  
HAVE FALLEN. LIGHT RAINFALL WILL CONTINUE FOR ANOTHER HOUR BEFORE  
ENDING.  
 
HAZARD...FLASH FLOODING CAUSED BY THUNDERSTORMS.  
 
SOURCE...RADAR.  
 
IMPACT...FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS, URBAN AREAS,  
HIGHWAYS, STREETS AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER POOR  
DRAINAGE AND LOW-LYING AREAS.  
 
SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLASH FLOODING INCLUDE...  
NEW ORLEANS, METAIRIE, AVONDALE, MARRERO, HARVEY, JEFFERSON,  
HARAHAN, WESTWEGO, ELMWOOD, RIVER RIDGE, BRIDGE CITY, WAGGAMAN,  
AMA, ST. ROSE AND NEW ORLEANS ARMSTRONG AIRPORT.  
 
THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING INTERSTATES...  
INTERSTATE 10 IN LOUISIANA BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 222 AND 234.  
INTERSTATE 610 NEAR MILE MARKER 1.  
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...  
 
TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED ROADS. MOST FLOOD  
DEATHS OCCUR IN VEHICLES.
