NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE OVER PORTIONS OF THE NEARSHORE  
WATERS SOUTH OF POINT CONCEPTION, AND THE OUTER WATERS SOUTH OF  
SANTA ROSA ISLAND STARTING NOON TODAY, AFFECTING NEARSHORE AREAS  
FROM VENTURA TO SANTA MONICA, AND OUT PAST SANTA CRUZ AND ANACAPA  
ISLANDS. GALE FORCE GUSTS OF 35 TO 45 KNOTS ARE EXPECTED THIS  
AFTERNOON THROUGH THE MID AFTERNOON HOURS TUESDAY. THERE IS A  
HIGH CHANCE THAT WINDS WILL INCREASE TO STORM FORCE LEVELS (50-60  
KTS) FROM VENTURA TO MALIBU AND OUT PAST SANTA CRUZ ISLAND LATER  
THIS AFTERNOON INTO TUESDAY MORNING. STEEP, CHOPPY SEAS OF 3 TO 6  
FEET ARE EXPECTED TO RESULT FROM THE STRONG WINDS, INCREASING UP  
TO 8 FEET FURTHER OFFSHORE. IN ADDITION, WINDS OF 25 TO 35 KNOTS  
GUSTING TO 40 KT ARE LIKELY ACROSS THE SAN PEDRO CHANNEL,  
AFFECTING AVALON HARBOR, ALONG WITH STEEP SEAS OF 5 TO 8 FEET.  
 
THESE CONDITIONS HAVE A HISTORY OF VESSEL DAMAGE AND LOSS OF  
LIFE. MARINERS SHOULD AVOID THESE AREAS, OR REMAIN IN SAFE HARBOR  
UNTIL CONDITIONS IMPROVE. AVALON HARBOR SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED  
SAFE HARBOR DURING THIS EVENT.
