...STRONG NORTHEAST TO EAST WINDS OVER THE SOUTHERN COASTAL WATERS  
AND EAST FACING HARBORS THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON...  
 
NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE OVER PORTIONS OF THE NEARSHORE  
WATERS SOUTH OF POINT CONCEPTION, AND THE OUTER WATERS FROM THE  
CHANNEL ISLANDS SOUTH, AFFECTING NEARSHORE AREAS FROM VENTURA TO  
MALIBU, AND OUT PAST SANTA CRUZ AND ANACAPA ISLANDS. GALE FORCE  
GUSTS OF 35 TO 45 KNOTS ARE EXPECTED THROUGH THE MID AFTERNOON  
HOURS TUESDAY. THERE IS A 50% CHANCE THAT WINDS WILL INCREASE TO  
STORM FORCE LEVELS (48-55 KTS) FOR THE WATERS SOUTH OF VENTURA TO  
MALIBU AND OUT PAST SANTA CRUZ ISLAND FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT  
THROUGH EARLY TUESDAY MORNING. STEEP, CHOPPY SEAS OF 3 TO 6 FEET  
ARE EXPECTED TO RESULT FROM THE STRONG WINDS, INCREASING UP TO 8  
FEET FURTHER OFFSHORE. IN ADDITION, WINDS OF 25 TO 35 KNOTS  
WITH LOCAL GUSTS UP TO 40 KT ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE SAN PEDRO  
CHANNEL, AFFECTING AVALON HARBOR, ALONG WITH STEEP SEAS OF 5 TO 8  
FEET.  
 
THESE CONDITIONS HAVE A HISTORY OF VESSEL DAMAGE AND LOSS OF  
LIFE. MARINERS SHOULD AVOID THESE AREAS, OR REMAIN IN SAFE HARBOR  
UNTIL CONDITIONS IMPROVE. AVALON HARBOR SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED  
SAFE HARBOR DURING THIS EVENT.
