SHORT TERM

(TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY)
ISSUED AT 120 AM CST FRI NOV 29 2024

POST FRONTAL LOW CLOUDS HUNG ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSE THROUGH A
GLOOMY-LOOKING THANKSGIVING DAY AND THOSE CLOUDS WERE STILL
HANGING OVER MOST OF THE AREA EARLY THIS FRIDAY MORNING. CLEARING
HAD BEGUN TO OCCUR OVER OUR FAR WESTERN COUNTIES. AS WE GO INTO
THE EARLY DAYLIGHT HOURS, THE CLEARING WILL GRADUALLY MOVE
EASTWARD TOWARD THE I-65 CORRIDOR, THEN THE CLEARING WILL
ACCELERATE EASTWARD ACROSS THE REST OF OUR AREA BY MIDDAY AS A
SHORTWAVE PASSAGE BRINGS A SURGE OF VERY DRY AIR.

IN SPITE OF SUNSHINE TODAY, IT WILL REMAIN QUITE CHILLY WITH
HIGHS FROM THE UPPER 30S TO MID 40S AND A SOMEWHAT GUSTY NORTHWEST
WIND.

TONIGHT WILL BE CLEAR AND BRRRRR! LOWS FROM THE UPPER TEENS TO
LOWER 20S WILL BE COMMON.

BNA WAS EXPECTED TO HIT FREEZING THIS MORNING AS WE ARE ALREADY
AT THE LATEST DATE ON RECORD FOR THE FIRST FREEZING TEMPS OF FALL.
IT WILL BE TRICKY AS THE LOW CLOUDS HOLD TEMPS UP SLIGHTLY. IF
BNA DOES INDEED REACH FREEZING THIS MORNING, IT WILL BE BRIEF.
BUT, THE WAIT FOR A FREEZE WILL BE OVER SOON AS A HARD FREEZE FOR
TONIGHT IS PRETTY MUCH A SLAM DUNK.

SATURDAY WILL BE CHILLY AS WELL, BUT WINDS WILL BE LIGHTER. THE
DAY WILL BEGIN CLEAR, BUT SOME CLOUDS WILL MIX WITH THE SUNSHINE
IN THE AFTERNOON.

LONG TERM

(SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH NEXT FRIDAY)
ISSUED AT 120 AM CST FRI NOV 29 2024

NORTHWEST FLOW ALOFT WILL KEEP THE CHILLY AIR COMING OUR WAY WITH
OCCASIONAL WEAK IMPULSES AND SURFACE COLD FRONTS. THESE FRONTS
WILL NOT PRODUCE MUCH WX SINCE THE AIR WILL BE VERY DRY. THE MAIN
IMPULSE WE HAVE BEEN WATCHING IS A CLIPPER SYSTEM THAT WILL
PRODUCE SOME LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS ALONG THE OHIO VALLEY SATURDAY
EVENING. IT LOOKS LIKE THE MAIN POCKET OF MOISTURE WILL TRACK TO
OUR NORTH AND THE MOST OUR LOCAL SNOW LOVERS CAN HOPE FOR IS A
STRAY FLURRY. THE MAIN IMPACTS FOR US WILL BE SOME PATCHES OF
CLOUDS FOLLOWED BY A REINFORCING SHOT OF COLD, DRY AIR.

SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY WILL BE THE COLDEST PERIOD WITH
OVERNIGHT LOWS IN THE TEENS TO LOWER 20S AND HIGHS REACHING ONLY
THE MID 30S TO LOWER 40S. TEMPERATURES WILL MODERATE A LITTLE MID
TO LATE WEEK, BUT WILL REMAIN ON THE COOL SIDE OF NORMAL. THE DRY
NORTHWEST FLOW WILL KEEP PRECIPITATION CHANCES LOW.
