UPDATE

ISSUED AT 850 PM CST SUN DEC 1 2024

WE WILL SEE QUIET CONDITIONS TONIGHT. SKIES WILL REMAIN MAINLY
CLEAR OVERNIGHT AND THAT WILL LEAD TO COLD CONDITIONS WITH LOWS
FALLING INTO THE LOWER 20S WITH SOME TEENS OVER THE PLATEAU. A
LONG WAVE TROUGH IS OVER THE EASTERN US WITH AN EMBEDDED SHORT
WAVE SPINNING INTO THE NORTH DAKOTA. THIS SHORT WAVE WILL DIG INTO
MIDDLE TN. CLOUDS WILL START TO INCREASE TOWARDS DAYBREAK AND WE
WILL SEE SCATTERED LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS DEVELOP IN THE AFTERNOON.
THE SNOW SHOWERS WILL HAVE TO FIGHT SOME DRY LOW LEVELS INITIALLY
BUT WE SHOULD SEE THINGS SATURATE BY MID-AFTERNOON. NOT EVERYONE
WILL SEE SNOW SHOWERS BUT IF YOU GET UNDER ONE YOU COULD SEE UP TO
A DUSTING OF SNOW. SNOW SHOWERS WILL BE BIT MORE WIDESPREAD ON
THE PLATEAU AND THEY COULD SEE UP TO 0.50" MAINLY IN THE
NORTHEAST. HIGHS TOMORROW WILL BE IN THE MID 30S OVER THE PLATEAU
TO MID 40S SOUTHWEST.

SHORT TERM

(REST OF TODAY THROUGH MONDAY)
ISSUED AT 959 AM CST SUN DEC 1 2024

WEAK ECHOES ARE SHOWING UP ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE UPPER PLATEAU.
IT MAY BE FALLING AS LIGHT SNOW, BUT WITH TEMPERATURES JUST ABOVE
FREEZING, WE DON'T EXPECT ANY ACCUMULATION TODAY. WE DO EXPECT
SOME LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS TOMORROW AFTERNOON MAINLY NORTH OF I-40
AND EAST OF I-24 AS AN UPPER TROUGH SWINGS ACROSS MIDDLE
TENNESSEE. DESPITE HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING IN AT THE SURFACE,
THERE DOES APPEAR TO BE ENOUGH MOISTURE AND LIFT ALOFT TO PRODUCT
SOME LIGHT SNOW WITH ACCUMULATIONS UP TO 1/2" POSSIBLE. READINGS
TONIGHT WILL BE WELL BELOW FREEZING, WITH SOME TEENS POSSIBLE IN A
FEW SPOTS. TEMPERATURES TOMORROW WILL BE SLUGGISH AND WILL
STRUGGLE TO GET ABOVE FREEZING ACROSS OUR NORTHERN ZONES GIVEN THE
EXPECTED CLOUD COVER AND NORTHWEST WIND. BECAUSE ACCUMULATIONS
SHOULD BE NO MORE THAN 1/2", NO WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES ARE
BEING PLANNED AT THIS TIME.

LONG TERM

(MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH NEXT SUNDAY)
ISSUED AT 959 AM CST SUN DEC 1 2024

THERE ARE SOME ADDITIONAL RAIN CHANCES WEDNESDAY NIGHT WITH THE
NEXT COLD FRONT. BUT MOISTURE ACCOMPANYING THIS SYSTEM WILL BE
SCANT AND QPF VALUES ARE VERY LOW. TEMPERATURES THROUGHOUT THE
FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER ARE GOING TO BE QUITE COLD, DEFINITELY
COLDER THAN NORMAL, AND THIS TREND IS LIKELY TO CONTINUE IN THE
6-10 DAY PERIOD AND PERHAPS EVEN DAYS 8-14.
