SHORT TERM

(TODAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY)
ISSUED AT 1215 AM CST TUE JAN 28 2025

HIGH PRESSURE HAS SETTLED OVER MIDDLE TENNESSEE. THE CURRENT AIR
MASS IS QUITE DRY SO WE CAN LOOK FORWARD TO SUNNY SKIES TODAY AND
TOMORROW. TEMPERATURES WILL WARM CONSIDERABLY AS A RESULT. FOR
MOST OF THE MID STATE, THIS MORNING IS THE LAST TIME WE WILL
EXPERIENCE FREEZING TEMPERATURES UNTIL SOMETIME NEXT WEEK.

LONG TERM

(WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH NEXT TUESDAY)
ISSUED AT 1215 AM CST TUE JAN 28 2025

THE NEXT ACTIVE WEATHER SYSTEM WILL COME OUR WAY LATER THIS WEEK.
A WARM FRONT IS POISED TO PASS THROUGH MIDDLE TENNESSEE ON
THURSDAY, WITH HIGH RAIN CHANCES CONTINUING THURSDAY NIGHT AND
INTO FRIDAY. THIS IS WHEN WE WILL EXPERIENCE THE HEAVIEST RAINALL.
SHOWERS WILL TAPER OFF DURING THE DAY FRIDAY WITH THE PASSAGE OF A
COLD FRONT. EXPECTED RAINFALL TOTALS RANGE FROM 1 TO 2" ACROSS THE
REGION, WHICH WOULD BE THE MOST SUBSTANTIAL RAINFALL WE'VE SEEN IN
QUITE SOME TIME. FORTUNATELY, WE EXPECT TO FULLY CLEAR OUT BY
DAYBREAK ON SATURDAY. TEMPERATURES TO START THE WEEKEND WILL COOL
OFF BY A FEW DEGREES, BUT SUNDAY WILL BE ALMOST SPRING-LIKE AFTER
A QUICK RECOVERY. THERE ARE NO MORE APPRECIABLE RAIN CHANCES AT
LEAST THROUGH NEXT TUESDAY NIGHT, AND NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS
EXPECTED FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE. BOTH THE 6-10 DAY AND 8-14
DAY OUTLOOKS FAVOR ABOVE-NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND NORMAL TO ABOVE-
NORMAL PRECIPITATION. THIS IS QUITE THE CONTRAST FROM MOST OF
JANUARY, WHICH HAS BEEN DRIER AND MUCH COLDER THAN NORMAL.
