CURRENT RADAR LOOP SHOWS ONGOING SNOW ACROSS THE CENTRAL MOUNTAINS,
EASTERN MOUNTAINS, AND SOUTHEAST HIGHLANDS WITH A BREAK IN THE
PRECIPITATION AND SOME CLEARING ACROSS THE SNAKE RIVER PLAIN AND
EASTERN MAGIC VALLEY AHEAD OF THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY. THE FRONT IS
CURRENTLY WORKING THROUGH CENTRAL IDAHO AND WILL BRING ANOTHER
ORGANIZED ROUND OF PRECIPITATION AS IT SHIFTS THROUGH EASTERN IDAHO
EARLY THIS MORNING. PRECIPITATION WILL TRANSITION TO STRICTLY SNOW
AREAWIDE BEHIND THE FRONT AND BREEZY WINDS WILL RAMP UP EVEN MORE AS
THE FRONT SWEEPS THROUGH, WITH GUSTS REACHING 35 TO 50 MPH.
TEMPERATURES WILL ALSO DROP RAPIDLY BEHIND THE FRONT, WITH BELOW-
FREEZING TEMPERATURES ACROSS ALL OF SOUTHEAST IDAHO BY LATER THIS
MORNING.

THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR THE CENTRAL MOUNTAINS IS SET TO
EXPIRE AT 5 AM THIS MORNING WITH AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 3 INCHES
EXPECTED THIS MORNING. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES AND WINTER
STORM WARNING FOR THE REGIONS FURTHER EAST WILL CONTINUE THROUGH 8
PM TONIGHT. ACCUMULATIONS FOR THESE REGIONS THROUGH EVENING WILL RUN
2 TO 5 INCHES ACROSS THE UPPER SNAKE PLAIN, 2 TO 8 IN THE BEAVERHEAD-
LEMHI HIGHLANDS AND BIG HOLES, AND 6 TO 10 IN THE ISLAND PARK
REGION. SNOW WILL WRAP UP ACROSS THE SNAKE RIVER PLAIN AND SOUTHEAST
HIGHLANDS BY MID-DAY. LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE IN THE
CENTRAL MOUNTAINS WITH VERY LITTLE ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATION FORECAST,
AND MODERATE SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE EVENING FURTHER EAST.
SNOW ACROSS EXTREME EASTERN IDAHO WILL TREND LIGHTER HEADING INTO
THE OVERNIGHT HOURS BUT WILL CONTINUE ALONG THE ID-WY BORDER
THROUGHOUT THE DAY TUESDAY. OTHERWISE, TUESDAY WILL BE FAIRLY QUIET
AS A TRANSIENT RIDGE BUILDS IN FROM THE WEST AHEAD OF A POTENT LOW
APPROACHING THE PNW COAST WHICH WILL BRING OUR NEXT ATMOSPHERIC
RIVER EVENT. CROPP

LONG TERM

WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY.
MAIN ATTENTION IS ON THE ATMOSPHERIC RIVER EVENT THAT WILL MAINLY
AFFECT THE MOUNTAINS AROUND KETCHUM AND STANLEY. MOISTURE WILL
BEGIN TO MOVE INTO THE REGION WEDNESDAY MORNING AND WILL CONTINUE
INTO SUNDAY. DURING THIS TIME, THE MOUNTAINS AROUND KETCHUM AND
STANLEY WILL PICK UP 2 TO 5 FEET OF SNOW. MEANWHILE, THE WOOD
RIVER VALLEY AND STANLEY BASIN WILL SEE MUCH LESS, PROBABLY CLOSER
TO 6 INCHES. AREAS AROUND ISLAND PARK COULD SEE SOME SNOW FROM
THIS EVENT AS WELL, BUT AMOUNTS LOOK MUCH LESS. THE MOUNTAINS
AROUND ISLAND PARK COULD SEE UP TO A FOOT BUT MOST AREAS AROUND
ISLAND PARK WILL SEE 3 TO 8 INCHES THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING.
ELSEWHERE, A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL KEEP MOST OF THE AREA DRY
WITH TEMPERATURES CLIMBING. SOME AREA IN THE SNAKE PLAIN AND
MAGIC VALLEY COULD REACH 50 DEGREES THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY. MODELS
CONTINUE TO SHOW A COLD FRONT MOVING THROUGH THE ENTIRE REGION ON
SATURDAY RESULTING IN WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION. SNOW LEVELS WILL
PROBABLY BE AROUND 6000 FEET ON SATURDAY AND MAY NOT FALL TO
VALLEY FLOORS UNTIL SUNDAY. ON SUNDAY AND MONDAY, WE WILL MOST
LIKELY BE UNDER AN UPPER TROUGH WITH TEMPERATURES MORE LIKELY TO
BE IN THE 30S TO 40S FOR HIGHS WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS POSSIBLE. 13

TO ACCOMPANY THE FRONT, BEGINNING BETWEEN 11Z AND 13Z AT KPIH,
