KEY MESSAGES

- SNOW SHOWERS TODAY WITH ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS IN SOUTHERN
AND EASTERN MOUNTAINS ABOVE 6 THOUSAND FEET. WINTER WEATHER
ADVISORIES REMAIN IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON.

- LIGHT RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS CONTINUING OFF AND ON THROUGH
FRIDAY.

- DRY WEEKEND.

SHORT TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/

ISSUED AT 248 AM MDT TUE APR 1 2025

BROAD UPPER LEVEL TROF WILL SLIDE OVER IDAHO TODAY AND WILL
CONTINUE TO SEE SNOW SHOWERS OFF AND ON THROUGHOUT THE EASTERN
AND SOUTHERN MOUNTAINS WHERE AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 4 INCHES OF SNOW
MAY FALL THROUGH TONIGHT. BEAR RIVER RANGE COULD SEE LOCALLY
HIGHER AMOUNTS. WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES REMAIN IN EFFECT
THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON AND AFTERNOON CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY WILL
LIKELY SEE SOME ENHANCED ACTIVITY. THERE WILL BE AT LEAST A
CHANCE OUTSIDE OF THE EASTERN AND SOUTHERN MOUNTAINS FOR RAIN
AND SNOW SHOWERS ESPECIALLY THIS AFTERNOON BUT SIGNIFICANT
ACCUMULATIONS NOT EXPECTED. MAIN UPPER TROF MOVES EAST WEDNESDAY
BUT COLD AIR ALOFT REMAINS AND ENOUGH INSTABILITY FOR CONTINUED
RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS AGAIN MAINLY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. IT WILL
BE VERY COLD WITH HIGHS TODAY IN THE 30S MOUNTAINS AND 40S LOW
ELEVATIONS AND LOWS TONIGHT SINGLE DIGITS AND TEENS MOUNTAINS
AND 20S LOW ELEVATIONS. HIGHS WEDNESDAY AGAIN IN THE 30S AND
40S WITH LOWS WEDNESDAY NIGHT TEENS AND 20S ONCE AGAIN. SO VERY
COLD AND WELL BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES THE NEXT TWO DAYS.

LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY/

ISSUED AT 248 AM MDT TUE APR 1 2025

LARGE UPPER TROUGH OVER THE REGION WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE COOL AND
UNSETTLED WEATHER THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY. MOST OF THE PRECIPITATION AT
THIS POINT LOOKS RELATIVELY LIGHT. THEN A RIDGE WILL BUILD INTO THE
AREA. THIS SHOULD PRODUCE MOSTLY DRY WEATHER WITH ABOVE NORMAL
TEMPERATURE FOR SUNDAY AND BEYOND. THE ONLY POTENTIAL HICCUP IS THAT
SOME OF THE MODEL SOLUTIONS ARE SHOWING A WEAK SHORTWAVE TROUGH
PASSING THROUGH ON MONDAY WHICH COULD PRODUCE A FEW SHOWERS. AT THIS
POINT THOUGH, THIS SOLUTION IS IN THE MINORITY.

AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z WEDNESDAY/

ISSUED AT 1131 PM MDT MON MAR 31 2025

A BIT OF A BREAK IN PRECIPITATION CONTINUES TO BE FORECAST
TONIGHT (EXCEPT POTENTIALLY AT KBYI) BEFORE A BETTER CHANCE OF
SNOW SHOWERS RETURNS BY TUESDAY AFTERNOON...PARTIALLY DIURNALLY-
DRIVEN ALTHOUGH WITH A LOW OVERHEAD. MEANWHILE, WINDS WILL
GRADUALLY INCREASE AND PEAK TUESDAY MORNING INTO MID-TO-LATE
TUESDAY AFTERNOON GENERALLY OUT OF THE SOUTHWEST (POTENTIAL
CROSSWIND AT KSUN). DID SHAVE A COUPLE KNOTS OFF THE ONGOING
FORECAST BASED ON THE LATEST MODEL GUIDANCE THIS EVENING. OVERALL
CONFIDENCE ON CIGS IS LOW THROUGH THE PERIOD, BUT GUIDANCE DOES
SUGGEST THICKENING AND LOWERING CLOUDS OVERNIGHT TONIGHT AS
WELL IN PORTIONS OF THE SNAKE PLAIN AFFECTING KPIH AND KIDA,
POTENTIALLY TO MVFR.
