DISCUSSION

A PROLONGED PERIOD OF DRY AND MILD WEATHER BEGINS TODAY WITH DAYTIME
HIGHS IN THE 40S AND 50S BENEATH MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. FREEZING FOG
MAY REDEVELOP TONIGHT FOR THE MARTIS VALLEY, WHICH WOULD REDUCE
VISIBILITIES AND MAKE FOR ICY/SLICK ROADS FOR THE FRIDAY AM COMMUTE.

THE SOLE EXCEPTION TO WHAT WILL BE AN OTHERWISE DRY WEEK IS A SLIGHT
CHANCE (10-20%) OF SHOWERS SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY, AND AGAIN
LATE MONDAY INTO TUESDAY. ANY SHOWERS WILL MOST LIKELY BE CONFINED
TO AREAS NEAR THE OREGON BORDER, ALTHOUGH MAY REACH AS FAR SOUTH AS
THE TAHOE BASIN. RAIN AND HIGH ELEVATION SNOW WILL BE VERY LIGHT
WITH LITTLE TO NO ACCUMULATION EXPECTED. RIDGETOP WINDS WILL ALSO
INCREASE DURING THESE PERIODS WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS UP TO 60 MPH.

PERHAPS THE MOST NOTABLE WEATHER ITEM WILL BE OUR FIRST TASTE OF
SPRING THIS WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK AS TEMPERATURES STEADILY
WARM OVER THE WEEKEND. THIS WEEKEND WILL BE NOTICEABLY WARMER AS
HIGHS JUMP AROUND 10 DEGREES FROM TODAY, YIELDING DAYTIME HIGHS IN
THE 50S AND 60S FOR THE SIERRA AND WESTERN NEVADA, RESPECTIVELY.
MONDAY CONTINUES TO BE THE WARMEST DAY OF THE WEEK AS MANY OF OUR
BASIN AND RANGE COMMUNITIES (E.G., FALLON, FERNLEY, LOVELOCK,
HAWTHORNE) FLIRT WITH THE 70 DEGREE MARK. ODDS OF THE GREATER RENO-
CARSON CITY-MINDEN AREA REACHING 70 DEGREES IS ONLY AROUND 10-20%,
BUT WE'LL CERTAINLY ENJOY THE MID TO UPPER 60S ALL THE SAME.

AVIATION

THE MAIN WEATHER CONCERN WILL BE THE POTENTIAL OF FZFG FOR THE
MARTIS VALLEY, ALLOWING PERIODS OF IFR/LIFR CONDITIONS AT KTRK AFTER
MIDNIGHT. ANY FZFG THAT SHOULD DEVELOP WILL LIKELY ERODE BETWEEN
14-16Z. OTHERWISE, VFR CONDITIONS WITH LIGHT BREEZES WILL PREVAIL
INTO THE WEEKEND.
