...FLOODING RAINFALL POSSIBLE FROM THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI INTO THE
SOUTHERN/CENTRAL APPALACHIANS AND NORTHERN MID-ATLANTIC THROUGH
SATURDAY NIGHT...

...ACCUMULATING SNOW TO IMPACT LOCATIONS FROM THE COLORADO ROCKIES
INTO THE MIDWEST AND NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND...

...FREEZING RAIN EXPECTED FROM THE MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY INTO
THE NORTHEAST THIS WEEKEND...

A WET AND UNSETTLED PATTERN IS IN STORE OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS AS
A STRONG FRONT SLOWLY TRACKS THROUGH THE LOWER
MISSISSIPPI/TENNESSEE/OHIO VALLEY AND THE NORTHEAST. SCATTERED TO
WIDESPREAD RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE FORECAST FROM THE CENTRAL
GULF COAST TO THE NORTHERN MID-ATLANTIC REGION. AN AXIS OF HIGHER
RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL LIKELY SET UP ALONG AND EAST OF THE
APPALACHIANS; WHICH WILL INCREASE THE RISK FOR FLOODING.
ESPECIALLY FOR TENNESSEE INTO THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS WHERE
ROUGHLY TWO TO FOUR INCHES OF RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE THROUGH
SUNDAY.

ARCTIC AIR WILL CONTINUE TO ADVANCE INTO THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN
U.S. WITH HIGH PRESSURE IN PLACE. A STRONG THERMAL GRADIENT
BETWEEN THE TWO AIR MASSES MAY ALLOW FOR ISOLATED AREAS TO HAVE
FREEZING RAIN; HOWEVER, IT WILL QUICKLY CHANGE OVER TO SNOW. LIGHT
TO MODERATE ICING POSSIBLE FOR THE MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY,
ALONG THE OHIO RIVER AND INTO INTERIOR SECTIONS OF THE NORTHEAST
SEVERAL ROUNDS OF LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW WILL AFFECT THE CENTRAL
U.S. TO THE NORTHEAST. ACROSS THE HIGHEST PEAKS OF THE
CENTRAL/SOUTHERN ROCKIES AN ADDITIONAL SIX TO TWELVE INCHES OF
SNOW IS EXPECTED.

MULTIPLE COLD FRONTS WILL DROP THROUGH THE WEST WHICH WILL ALLOW
FOR COOLER TEMPERATURES TO RETURN. LIGHT MOUNTAIN SNOW AND LOWER
ELEVATION RAIN WILL FOLLOW A COLD FRONT AS IT TRACKS SOUTH ACROSS
THE FOUR CORNERS REGION TODAY. LIGHT SNOW WILL PASS THROUGH THE
NORTHWEST, GREAT BASIN AND INTERMOUNTAIN WEST AS A LOW PRESSURE
SYSTEM PUSHES INLAND SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY.
