VALID 12Z SUN FEB 11 2018 - 12Z TUE FEB 13 2018

...WIDESPREAD RAIN FOR THE EASTERN U.S. AND SNOW RETURNING TO
PARTS OF THE WEST...

AN ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE EASTERN THIRD
OF THE NATION COURTESY OF A SLOW MOVING COLD FRONT. A RICH SUPPLY
OF MOISTURE SURGING NORTH FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO WILL FUEL
MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SHOWERS AND STORMS FROM THE
GULF COAST TO THE NORTHEAST STATES. MANY AREAS MAY GET 1 TO 2
INCHES OF RAINFALL BY MONDAY NIGHT ONCE THE FRONT EXITS THE COAST,
WITH ISOLATED TOTALS IN EXCESS OF 3 INCHES POSSIBLE THAT COULD
LEAD TO SOME FLOODING ISSUES. WINTRY PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED
BEHIND THE FRONT FROM THE CENTRAL PLAINS TO THE OHIO VALLEY AND
GREAT LAKES, WHERE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT.

ON SUNDAY A FRESH SURGE OF ARCTIC AIR WILL SETTLE SOUTHWARD ACROSS
THE NORTHERN PLAINS AND THEN THE UPPER MIDWEST. A STRONG THERMAL
GRADIENT WILL ONCE AGAIN BECOME ESTABLISHED NEAR THE CONTINENTAL
DIVIDE ON MONDAY WITH SNOW RETURNING TO MUCH OF THE GREAT BASIN
AND THE CENTRAL AND NORTHERN ROCKIES. HIGHS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS
AND TEENS ARE EXPECTED FROM MONTANA TO MINNESOTA.

THE SOUTHEAST U.S. AND THE DESERT SOUTHWEST WILL DODGE WINTER'S
WRATH THROUGH MONDAY WITH MILD TO WARM CONDITIONS EXPECTED. THE
FLORIDA PENINSULA WILL CONTINUE TO BE UNSEASONABLY WARM AND HUMID
THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK AND BEYOND, WITH THE PERSISTENT UPPER
LEVEL RIDGE OVER THE WESTERN ATLANTIC KEEPING COLD FRONTS FROM
MAKING MUCH PROGRESS THROUGH THE SUNSHINE STATE.
