...HEAVY SNOW IS FORECAST TO CONTINUE FOR HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF
COLORADO TONIGHT...

...WARMER TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED FOR MUCH OF THE U.S. BY
WEDNESDAY...

THE SOUTHWEST U.S. AND FOUR CORNERS REGION WILL CONTINUE TO SEE
SOME PRECIPITATION OVERNIGHT AND INTO TUESDAY--RAIN IN SOUTHERN
PARTS AND SNOW IN NORTHERN PARTS AND IN HIGHER ELEVATIONS. THIS IS
BECAUSE OF AN UPPER-LEVEL LOW CENTERED OVER CALIFORNIA AND NEVADA.
THE HEAVIEST SNOW IS FORECAST FOR THE SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS OF
SOUTHERN COLORADO, WHERE OVER A FOOT OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE THROUGH
TUESDAY.

IN THE NORTHWEST, AN APPROACHING UPPER-LEVEL LOW WILL LEAD TO
INCREASING RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW CHANCES BY TUESDAY NIGHT AND
WEDNESDAY. IN THE HIGH ELEVATIONS OF THE CASCADES AND FAR NORTHERN
ROCKIES, 6 TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE. IN LOWER ELEVATIONS,
SNOW AND RAIN TOTALS WILL STAY LIGHT SINCE THE SYSTEM WILL BE
MOVING QUICKLY. THE SNOW IS EXPECTED TO SPREAD INTO THE NORTHERN
ROCKIES AND NORTHERN PLAINS BY WEDNESDAY EVENING.

SHOWERS AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS ARE FORECAST TO CONTINUE FOR
EASTERN TEXAS THROUGH THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AND SOUTHEAST
OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, AS MOISTURE REMAINS IN THE AREA AND
A FRONT LINGERS OFFSHORE OF THE GULF COAST. BY WEDNESDAY, THE
CHANCE FOR RAIN WILL SPREAD TO THE TENNESSEE AND OHIO VALLEYS AS
THE MOISTURE SPREADS NORTHEAST. RAINFALL TOTALS ARE EXPECTED TO BE
LESS THAN AN INCH.

AFTER A COOL SPELL FOR PORTIONS OF THE U.S., MUCH OF THE LOWER 48
WILL BE IN A WARMING TREND INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE WORKWEEK DUE TO
SOUTH WINDS BRINGING IN WARMER AIR. BY WEDNESDAY, HIGH
TEMPERATURES EAST OF THE ROCKIES WILL BE ABOVE AVERAGE,
PARTICULARLY IN THE PLAINS TO OHIO VALLEY, WHERE TEMPERATURES 10
TO 20 DEGREES WARMER THAN NORMAL ARE FORECAST. THIS WILL BE OVER A
30 DEGREE HIGH TEMPERATURE SWING FOR PARTS OF THE PLAINS FROM
MONDAY TO WEDNESDAY.
