...WARM WEATHER FOR THE EASTERN U.S. AND COLD WEATHER FOR THE WEST
WITH STORMY WEATHER FOR THE PLAINS...

THE WEATHER PATTERN ACROSS THE CONTINENTAL U.S. WILL BE QUITE
ACTIVE GOING THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK. AN IMPRESSIVE
FRONTAL BOUNDARY CURRENTLY EXTENDING FROM MICHIGAN TO TEXAS HAS
QUITE A TEMPERATURE CONTRAST WITH IT, AND COPIOUS MOISTURE FLOWING
NORTHWARD TOWARDS THE FRONT FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO IS EXPECTED TO
RESULT IN WIDESPREAD HEAVY RAIN FROM EASTERN TEXAS TO THE OHIO
VALLEY THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING. SEVERAL INCHES OF RAIN IS LIKELY
FOR NORTHEAST TEXAS AND MUCH OF ARKANSAS WHERE THE GREATEST
COMBINATION OF DEEP MOISTURE AND ATMOSPHERIC FORCING WILL RESIDE,
WITH FLASH FLOODING POSSIBLE WHERE HEAVY THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY
PERSISTS OVER THE SAME AREAS, AND THEREFORE FLOOD WATCHES ARE IN
EFFECT FOR THOSE AREAS. A BAND OF FREEZING RAIN, SLEET, AND SOME
SNOW IS ALSO EXPECTED BEHIND THE FRONT ACROSS PARTS OF THE CENTRAL
PLAINS AND EXTENDING NORTHWARD TO WISCONSIN.

CONDITIONS WILL BE QUITE WARM FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR FOR THE
EASTERN THIRD OF THE NATION AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT, WITH
TEMPERATURES COMPARABLE TO THE MONTH OF MAY FOR WEDNESDAY, AND
ALSO FOR THURSDAY FOR THE SOUTHEAST STATES. WIDESPREAD HIGHS IN
THE 70S WITH SOME LOWER 80S ARE EXPECTED, AND THIS HAS THE
POTENTIAL TO SET RECORD HIGHS. AN ABRUPT COOL-DOWN IS COMING TO
THE MID-ATLANTIC AND NORTHEAST U.S. BY THURSDAY WITH THE FRONT
CLEARING THE REGION AND READINGS CLOSER TO NORMAL VALUES.

UPPER-LEVEL ENERGY JUST OFF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST COAST WILL MOVE
SOUTHWARD TO THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA COAST BY WEDNESDAY, WITH AN
ADDITIONAL SHORTWAVE REACHING THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. SNOW IS
LIKELY FOR PARTS OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST COAST AND NORTHERN
CALIFORNIA THROUGH WEDNESDAY.
