...A NOR'EASTER WILL DEVELOP WEDNESDAY, SPREADING SNOW TO THE
NORTHERN MID-ATLANTIC AND NORTHEAST...

...A LOW WILL BRING RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW TO THE WESTERN U.S. BY
THURSDAY...

A NOR'EASTER IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP FROM A SURFACE LOW CURRENTLY
LOCATED IN THE SOUTHEASTERN U.S. THE SURFACE LOW WILL MAKE ITS WAY
JUST OFFSHORE OF NORTH CAROLINA, THE DELMARVA PENINSULA, AND
ACROSS CAPE COD LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT. TO THE NORTH AND WEST OF
THIS LOW, SNOW IS EXPECTED FOR THE NORTHERN MID-ATLANTIC AND
NORTHEAST. SNOWFALL TOTALS ARE FORECAST TO BE OVER A FOOT FOR
PORTIONS OF THE NORTHEAST WEST OF INTERSTATE 95 THROUGH THURSDAY
EVENING. THE MAJOR CITIES WILL BE ON THE GRADIENT IN BETWEEN THE
SUBSTANTIAL SNOWFALL TOTALS AND LIGHT SNOWFALL TOTALS, SO THERE IS
UNCERTAINTY IN HOW MUCH SNOW WILL FALL IN AREAS SUCH AS NEW YORK
CITY. SEE YOUR LOCAL FORECAST ON WWW.WEATHER.GOV, AND OUR SNOWFALL
PROBABILITIES TO SEE THE RANGE OF POSSIBILITIES AT
WWW.WPC.NCEP.NOAA.GOV/PWPF/WWD_ACCUM_PROBS.PHP.

FARTHER WEST, A SURFACE LOW WILL LINGER OVER THE GREAT LAKES
REGION, PRODUCING MORE SNOW IN THAT AREA. SNOW TOTALS ARE FORECAST
TO BE 6 TO 8 INCHES FOR THE UPPER GREAT LAKES THROUGH THURSDAY
EVENING. AND FARTHER SOUTH, A COLD FRONT WILL PUSH THROUGH THE
SOUTHEAST AND FLORIDA, AND SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE
AHEAD OF IT TUESDAY NIGHT. A FEW STORMS COULD BE STRONG IN WESTERN
FLORIDA.

THE WESTERN U.S. IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN GENERALLY DRY ON TUESDAY
NIGHT AND INTO WEDNESDAY. BY WEDNESDAY EVENING INTO THURSDAY, A
LOW WILL APPROACH, SPREADING RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW INTO NORTHERN
CALIFORNIA AND THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST ON WEDNESDAY EVENING AND INTO
THE NORTHERN ROCKIES ON THURSDAY. RAIN AND SNOW TOTALS WILL BE
FAIRLY LIGHT FOR THIS SYSTEM THROUGH THURSDAY.
