VALID 12Z WED MAY 9 2018 - 12Z FRI MAY 11 2018

...BEST CHANCES FOR RAIN ACROSS THE NORTHERN HALF OF THE U.S. AND
THE SOUTHERN TIER REMAINS MOSTLY DRY...

MOST OF THE EASTERN U.S. WILL ENJOY PARTLY CLOUDY CONDITIONS FOR
WEDNESDAY WITH SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING INTO THE REGION.
TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO BE WARMER THAN THE PAST COUPLE OF
DAYS AS THE CURRENT AIR MASS OVER THE REGION MODIFIES. ACROSS THE
NORTH-CENTRAL U.S., A SURFACE LOW TRACKING EASTWARD ACROSS THE
GREAT LAKES REGION WILL SUPPORT SCATTERED SHOWERS AND STORMS, WITH
THE GREATEST RAINFALL TOTALS LIKELY FOR WISCONSIN, MICHIGAN, AND
THE NORTHERN OHIO VALLEY. SOME STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL ALSO BE
POSSIBLE AS THIS DISTURBANCE PASSES THROUGH THE REGION, AND THESE
STORMS COULD ALSO AFFECT THE MID-ATLANTIC AND NORTHEAST U.S. GOING
INTO THURSDAY.

ACROSS THE WEST, SCATTERED SHOWERS AND A FEW STORMS ARE EXPECTED
FROM THE CASCADES TO THE NORTHERN ROCKIES ON WEDNESDAY AS A COLD
FRONT MOVES ACROSS THE INTERMOUNTAIN WEST. LOCALLY ENHANCED
HEAVIER RAINFALL IS POSSIBLE FOR THE WINDWARD TERRAIN. ANOTHER
AREA OF ENHANCED RAINFALL IS EXPECTED ACROSS NEBRASKA AND SOUTH
DAKOTA AS ANOTHER SURFACE LOW DEVELOPS OVER THE PLAINS BY THE END
OF THE WEEK. FARTHER TO THE SOUTH OVER THE DESERT SOUTHWEST, HOT
WEATHER WILL CONTINUE UNDERNEATH UPPER LEVEL RIDGING, WITH
TEMPERATURES LIKELY EXCEEDING 100 DEGREES FOR THE LOWER ELEVATIONS
OF ARIZONA, SOUTHERN NEVADA, AND EASTERN CALIFORNIA.
