...STORMY WEATHER FOR THE MIDWEST AND PLEASANT CONDITIONS FOR THE
EASTERN U.S. THROUGH MIDWEEK...

AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE EXTENDING ACROSS THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN
PLAINS THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK IS EXPECTED TO RESULT IN
WIDESPREAD REGIONS OF TEMPERATURES IN THE 90S FROM THE CENTRAL
PLAINS TO THE GULF COAST. THE HOTTEST LOCATIONS WILL BE WESTERN
TEXAS AND THE LOWER ELEVATIONS OF THE DESERT SOUTHWEST, WHERE HIGH
TEMPERATURES EXCEEDING 100 DEGREES ARE LIKELY BOTH WEDNESDAY AND
THURSDAY. WITH AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH GOVERNING THE WEATHER
PATTERN OVER THE NORTHEAST STATES, EXPECT PLEASANTLY COOL
CONDITIONS FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR WITH HIGHS IN THE 60S AND 70S
FROM THE UPPER MIDWEST TO THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION AND NORTHEAST
U.S., AND EVEN COOLER FOR THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS AND NORTHERN NEW
ENGLAND. COOLER CONDITIONS ARE ALSO LIKELY ACROSS THE PACIFIC
NORTHWEST WITH ONSHORE FLOW ACROSS THE REGION.

IN TERMS OF PRECIPITATION, THE GREATEST PROSPECTS FOR NOTEWORTHY
RAIN WILL BE ACROSS THE FLORIDA PENINSULA IN THE VICINITY OF A
STALLED FRONTAL BOUNDARY, AND ALSO FOR THE CENTRAL PLAINS AND
UPPER MIDWEST AHEAD OF A SURFACE LOW AND COLD FRONT. SOME SEVERE
STORMS ARE POSSIBLE FROM THE WESTERN HIGH PLAINS TO IOWA AND
MINNESOTA, AND THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ADDITIONAL DETAILS
ON THAT. SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS AND A FEW STORMS WILL ALSO BE
POSSIBLE ACROSS THE NORTHERN ROCKIES AND EXTENDING EASTWARD ACROSS
THE NORTHERN PLAINS. DRY CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE FOR MOST OF THE
SOUTHWESTERN AND EASTERN U.S. THROUGH THURSDAY.
