NORTHERN ROCKIES INTO THE PLAINS AND MID MISSISSIPPI VALLEY

...BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE NORTHEAST AND MID-ATLANTIC  
TO GRADUALLY MODERATE...  
 
A STRONG UPPER HIGH WILL REMAIN IN PLACE ACROSS THE SOUTHERN GREAT  
PLAINS, SUPPORTING AT OR ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES ACROSS MUCH OF  
THE CENTRAL TO THE INTERIOR WESTERN U.S. TEMPERATURES THIS  
AFTERNOON ARE EXPECTED REACH HIGHS 10-15 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL  
ACROSS MUCH OF THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN HIGH PLAINS EASTWARD TO  
THE CENTRAL GREAT PLAINS AND INTO THE MIDDLE AND LOWER LOWER  
MISSOURI VALLEY. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING ON THURSDAY  
ARE EXPECTED TO KEEP TEMPERATURES LOWER ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE  
CENTRAL GREAT PLAINS AND MID TO LOWER MISSOURI VALLEY, HOWEVER  
ANOMALOUSLY WARM TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO PREVAIL ACROSS THE  
HIGH PLAINS THROUGH FRIDAY.  
 
A SERIES OF UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCES MOVING ACROSS THE TOP OF THE  
HIGH ARE EXPECTED TO IMPACT PORTIONS OF THE NORTHERN ROCKIES INTO  
THE GREAT PLAINS WITH SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS BOTH DAYS. SOME  
OF THESE STORMS MAY BECOME STRONG TO SEVERE. THE STORM PREDICTION  
CENTER CONTINUES TO HIGHLIGHT THE POTENTIAL FOR STRONG TO SEVERE  
STORMS ACROSS PORTIONS OF WYOMING, AS WELL AS FROM THE CENTRAL  
GREAT PLAINS TO IOWA THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. SHOWERS AND  
THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ONCE AGAIN TOMORROW, WITH  
THE THREAT FOR SEVERE STORMS CENTERED MAINLY ACROSS THE CENTRAL  
THROUGH THE NORTHERN HIGH PLAINS. HOWEVER, STRONG STORMS ARE  
POSSIBLE TO THE SOUTH ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN  
GREAT PLAINS INTO THE MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY.  
 
ACROSS THE WESTERN U.S., A FRONTAL BOUNDARY WILL SLOWLY WORK ITS  
WAY EAST INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST, BRINGING RAINS INTO WESTERN  
WASHINGTON, OREGON AND FAR NORTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA ON FRIDAY.  
 
IN THE EAST, TEMPERATURES WILL GRADUALLY MODERATE FROM AT TO  
WELL-BELOW NORMAL ACROSS MUCH OF THE NORTHEAST AND MID-ATLANTIC ON  
WEDNESDAY TO AT TO ABOVE NORMAL ON FRIDAY. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF  
FLORIDA, MUCH OF THE EASTERN U.S. WILL REMAIN DRY THROUGH  
THURSDAY, BEFORE AFTERNOON AND EVENING THUNDERSTORMS BECOME MORE  
WIDESPREAD ON FRIDAY. ACROSS FLORIDA, A WEAK AREA OF LOW PRESSURE  
IS FORECAST TO PROMOTE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE STATE  
OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.
