..SEASONABLY HOT OVER THE PLAINS

...PERIODS OF STORMY WEATHER FROM THE NORTHERN PLAINS INTO THE
NORTHERN MID-ATLANTIC STATES...

SHOWERS WILL SPREAD ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE GREAT BASIN THIS
WEEKEND AS A PACIFIC FRONT SLOWLY PROGRESSES INLAND. OVERCAST
SKIES WITH COOLER TEMPERATURES CAN BE EXPECTED FROM WASHINGTON TO
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. EAST OF THE DIVIDE, WIDESPREAD CONVECTION
WILL FIRE ACROSS THE HIGH PLAINS TODAY AND MIGRATE TOWARD THE
CENTRAL U.S. BY THIS WEEKEND. A SERIES OF UPPER-LEVEL DISTURBANCES
WILL PROVIDE FORCING FOR STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM
DEVELOPMENT. THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS AN ENHANCED RISK
IDENTIFIED FOR MUCH OF SOUTH DAKOTA AND NORTHERN NEBRASKA. PLEASE
REFER TO THE SPC WEBPAGE FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THE SEVERE
WEATHER RISK.

A STRONG UPPER LEVEL HIGH ACROSS THE SOUTHERN GREAT PLAINS OVER
THE NEXT FEW DAYS SUPPORTS SEASONABLY HOT TEMPERATURES ACROSS MUCH
OF THE PLAINS AND ALSO FOR MUCH OF THE INTERMOUNTAIN WEST INTO
THIS WEEKEND. THE HOTTEST WEATHER IS EXPECTED FOR THE LOWER
ELEVATIONS OF THE DESERT SOUTHWEST AND WESTERN HIGH PLAINS, WITH
SOME 100+ DEGREE HIGHS LIKELY. NEAR SEASONAL AVERAGE TEMPERATURES
CAN BE EXPECTED FOR MUCH OF THE EAST COAST THIS WEEKEND. ACROSS
FLORIDA AND THE COASTAL SOUTHEAST, A LINGERING FRONTAL BOUNDARY
AND WEAK SURFACE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM ARE FORECAST TO PRODUCE
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE STATE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF
DAYS.
