APPALACHIANS AND MID-ATLANTIC...

..COOLER TEMPERATURES ON THE WAY FOR MUCH OF THE EASTERN U.S

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP ALONG AND AHEAD OF A COLD
FRONT AS IT CROSSES THE APPALACHIANS AND MOVES THROUGH MUCH OF THE
EASTERN SEABOARD. LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN AND FLASH FLOODING MAY BE
POSSIBLE FROM PORTIONS OF THE TENNESSEE VALLEY, SOUTHERN/CENTRAL
APPALACHIANS TO THE MID-ATLANTIC. THIS FRONT WILL CONTINUE TO
ADVANCE SOUTH AND EAST, ALONG WITH THE EXPECTED AREA OF SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS, AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS BEHIND IT. THE FRONT
WILL STALL OVER THE GULF STATES AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE A FOCUS
FOR CONVECTION THROUGH THE WEEKEND. ADDITIONAL SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED ALONG THE WESTERN PORTION OF THE
FRONTAL BOUNDARY, FROM THE CENTRAL HIGH PLAINS TO THE FRONT RANGE
OF THE ROCKIES, WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR AREAS OF HEAVY RAIN. COOLER
AND DRIER AIR WILL SPREAD INTO THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN STATES OVER
THE NEXT FEW DAYS- A MUCH NEEDED REPRIEVE FROM THE RECENT HEATWAVE.

MID TO UPPER-LEVEL RIDGING WILL ALLOW MUCH OF THE WESTERN STATES
TO BE WARMER THAN SEASONAL AVERAGE THIS WEEKEND. SOME LOCATIONS
ACROSS THE NORTHERN ROCKIES/HIGH PLAINS MAY REACH 10 TO 15 DEGREES
ABOVE NORMAL FOR EARLY JULY. ISOLATED TO SCATTERED SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE AS A COLD FRONT MOVES INTO THE THE
HIGH PLAINS. ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST, SCATTERED AFTERNOON/EVENING
THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED DAILY AS SOME MONSOONAL MOISTURE BEGINS
TO SPREAD INTO THE REGION.
