...THUNDERSTORMS WITH SEVERE AND FLASH FLOODING POTENTIAL ARE  
FORECAST FROM PORTIONS OF THE PLAINS TO THE UPPER MIDWEST...  
 
...WIDESPREAD RAIN IS EXPECTED FOR PARTS OF THE SOUTHERN PLAINS  
AND LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY...  
 
PARTS OF THE PLAINS TO THE MIDWEST WILL SEE ACTIVE WEATHER THROUGH  
THIS HOLIDAY WEEKEND, AS FRONTAL SYSTEMS CREATE A FOCUS FOR  
RAINFALL TO FORM. THE CENTRAL PLAINS INTO IOWA COULD SEE MULTIPLE  
ROUNDS OF RAIN OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, AND 2 TO 3 INCHES OF  
RAIN IS FORECAST, WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS. SLIGHT RISKS OF  
EXCESSIVE RAINFALL/FLASH FLOODING ARE IN EFFECT. ADDITIONALLY,  
THUNDERSTORMS COULD BE STRONG TO SEVERE IN THESE AREAS THROUGH  
SATURDAY NIGHT, WITH SOME CHANCE FOR A STRONG THUNDERSTORM ON  
SATURDAY AS WELL.  
 
AS UPPER-LEVEL DISTURBANCES MAKE THEIR WAY THROUGH THE SOUTHWEST,  
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED, PARTICULARLY IN THE  
AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS THROUGH MONDAY. THESE STORMS COULD  
PRODUCE LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN. A PLUME OF AMPLE MOISTURE WILL STREAM  
INTO THE WESTERN AND CENTRAL GULF COAST ON SUNDAY AND MONDAY,  
WHICH WILL HELP CAUSE WIDESPREAD RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS IN THE  
LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY. THIS MOISTURE PLUME IS FORECAST TO SHIFT  
WESTWARD, LEADING TO WIDESPREAD RAIN AND STORMS BY LABOR DAY IN  
PARTS OF THE SOUTHERN PLAINS. THOUGH CONDITIONS HAVE GENERALLY  
BEEN DRY THERE, ENOUGH RAIN FALLING IN ONE LOCATION COULD STILL  
CAUSE LOCALIZED FLASH FLOODING.  
 
ELSEWHERE, SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE FROM  
THE SOUTHEAST TO THE NORTHEAST THROUGH THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND, WITH  
WARM AND HUMID CONDITIONS. PARTS OF THE MID-ATLANTIC ARE IN A  
MARGINAL RISK OF EXCESSIVE RAINFALL/FLASH FLOODING THROUGH  
SATURDAY NIGHT WITH A LOCALIZED FLOODING THREAT.
