...TROPICAL STORM GORDON IS FORECAST TO STRENGTHEN TO A HURRICANE
BEFORE MAKING LANDFALL IN MISSISSIPPI...

...SLIGHT RISK FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER PARTS OF THE NORTHERN
PLAINS, UPPER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AND THE CENTRAL GULF COAST...

...HEAVY RAIN EXPECTED FROM THE CENTRAL PLAINS TO THE UPPER
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY/GREAT LAKES REGION...

...HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLE OVER PARTS OF THE SOUTHERN PLAINS AND
LIKELY OVER THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AS TROPICAL CYCLONE
GORDON MOVES INLAND...

TROPICAL STORM GORDON IS FORECAST TO INTENSIFY TO A HURRICANE JUST
PRIOR TO MAKING LANDFALL NEAR MISSISSIPPI. THE CURRENT TRACK HAS
IT REACHING ARKANSAS BEFORE HOOKING NORTHEAST THROUGH MISSOURI.
HEAVY RAIN WILL ACCOMPANY GORDON ALONG ITS TRACK, SPREADING AN
EXTENSIVE SWATH OF 3 TO 6 INCHES WILL LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS.
WIDESPREAD FLASH FLOODING WILL BE A CONCERN THROUGH THE END OF THE
WEEK. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY TRIGGER OVER PARTS OF THE
GULF COAST IN ASSOCIATION WITH TROPICAL CYCLONE GORDON. THE STORM
PREDICTION CENTER HAS A SLIGHT RISK IN EFFECT. CHECK THE LATEST
ADVISORY FROM THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER FOR THE TRACK AND
INTENSITY OF GORDON.

MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO
IMPACT THE NORTH-CENTRAL PORTIONS OF THE COUNTRY OVER THE NEXT FEW
DAYS AS A FRONTAL SYSTEM MOVES THROUGH THE NORTHERN PLAINS AND
UPPER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY. HEAVY RAIN IS EXPECTED WITH SOME OF
THESE STORMS AND WILL LIKELY FOCUS OVER PORTIONS OF MINNESOTA AND
WISCONSIN WHERE WPC HAS A MODERATE RISK IN EFFECT. THIS AREA COULD
HAVE 2 TO 4 INCHES WITH LOCALIZED HIGHER AMOUNTS. NUMEROUS AREAS
WITHIN THIS REGION CONTINUE TO HAVE FLOODING, WHICH WILL BE
AGGRAVATED BY ANY ADDITIONAL RAINFALL.

MEANWHILE, UPPER-LEVEL ENERGY OVER PARTS OF THE CENTRAL GULF COAST
INTO PARTS OF THE SOUTHERN PLAINS WILL SLOWLY MOVE NORTHWARD INTO
PARTS OF THE CENTRAL PLAINS THIS AFTERNOON. THIS WILL GENERATE
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PLAINS EASTWARD INTO
LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY/SOUTHEAST THROUGH WEDNESDAY. MONSOONAL
MOISTURE AND DAYTIME HEATING WILL AID IN PRODUCING SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS OVER PARTS OF THE SOUTHWEST/GREAT BASIN AND THE
CENTRAL/SOUTHERN ROCKIES THROUGH WEDNESDAY. THE GREATEST AREAL
COVERAGE OF THE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE DURING THE LATE
AFTERNOON INTO THE LATE EVENING ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY.
