...TROPICAL DEPRESSION GORDON CONTINUES TO BRING HEAVY RAIN AND
FLASH FLOODING CONCERNS TO PORTIONS OF THE SOUTHERN AND CENTRAL
PLAINS AND THE MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY...

...EXCESSIVE HEAT CONTINUES TO BE FELT ACROSS THE NORTHEASTERN
U.S....

A FRONTAL BOUNDARY IS FORECAST TO BECOME STALLED OVER PORTIONS OF
THE CENTRAL/SOUTHERN PLAINS AND MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY IN THE
COMING DAYS. THIS BOUNDARY, COUPLED WITH THE DEEP MOISTURE INFLUX
FROM TROPICAL DEPRESSION GORDON, WILL BE A FOCUS FOR SLOW MOVING
STORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING HIGH AMOUNTS OF RAINFALL. ADDITIONAL
RAINFALL ON TOP OF ALREADY SATURATED SOILS WITH KEEP AN ELEVATED
THREAT FOR FLOODING THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK FOR PARTS OF THE
CENTRAL U.S. WPC HAS MUCH OF ARKANSAS IN A SLIGHT AND MODERATE
RISK FOR EXCESSIVE RAINFALL TODAY, THEN EXPANDING INTO MISSOURI
AND SOUTHERN ILLINOIS ON FRIDAY. THE AREA OF HEAVIER RAIN IS
EXPECTED TO SHIFT TO THE EAST ON SATURDAY, THEREFORE THE SLIGHT
AND MODERATE RISKS EXTEND INTO INDIANA AND PARTS OF THE OHIO
VALLEY.

A COLD FRONT WILL DROP SOUTH THROUGH CANADA AND SLOW OVER THE
NORTHERN-TIER STATES. OVERNIGHT LOWS ALONG PARTS OF THE
INTERNATIONAL BORDER MAY BE CHILLY IN THE MORNINGS AS SURFACE HIGH
PRESSURE SLIDES INTO THE REGION IN THE WAKE OF THE FRONT. SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS FIRE ALONG THIS BOUNDARY, WITH THE HIGHEST
AMOUNTS LIKELY SETTING UP OVER UPPER MICHIGAN. NUMEROUS AREAS
WITHIN THIS REGION ARE ALREADY EXPERIENCING SATURATED SOILS AND
ONGOING FLOODING, SO ANY FURTHER RAINFALL WILL ONLY EXACERBATE THE
SITUATION. AHEAD OF THIS APPROACHING COLD FRONT, A DEEP PULL OF
WARM AND MOIST AIR IS RESULTING IN HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS ACROSS
MUCH OF THE EASTERN U.S. HEAT ADVISORIES REMAIN IN EFFECT FOR
PARTS OF THE NORTHEAST AND COASTAL MID-ATLANTIC TODAY.
TEMPERATURES WILL MODERATE ONCE THE COLD FRONT TRACKS ACROSS THIS
REGION BY THE END OF THE WEEK.
