NWS WEATHER PREDICTION CENTER COLLEGE PARK MD
359 PM EDT FRI SEP 21 2018

VALID 00Z SAT SEP 22 2018 - 00Z MON SEP 24 2018

...HEAVY RAIN EXPECTED FOR THE SOUTHERN PLAINS AND MUCH COOLER
WEATHER FOR THE NORTHERN TIER STATES...

ONGOING WIDESPREAD, HEAVY RAIN ACROSS MUCH OF TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA
HAVE INCREASED THE THREAT OF FLOODING ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PLAINS
TODAY. LOCALIZED AREAS OF 6 TO 10 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE
THEREFORE WPC HAS ISSUED A HIGH RISK FOR EXCESSIVE RAINFALL AND
FLASH FLOODING. ALTHOUGH NOT AS ELEVATED, THE AREA OF CONCERN WILL
SHIFT EAST INTO THE LOWER AND MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY THIS
WEEKEND AS THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY SLOWLY MOVES THROUGH THE
MID-ATLANTIC AND GULF STATES, WHERE ADDITIONAL 1 TO 4 INCHES ARE
FORECAST.

FURTHER NORTH, SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE TRACKING ACROSS THE
GREAT LAKES REGION AND INTO THE OHIO VALLEY. SOME OF THESE STORMS
MAY BE SEVERE GIVEN THAT THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS AN
ENHANCED RISK IN EFFECT FOR PORTIONS OF OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, AND
NEW YORK TODAY. PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS UP TO AN 1 INCH WILL BE
POSSIBLE FOR THE NORTHEAST AND NORTHERN MID-ATLANTIC STATES THIS
WEEKEND AS THE FRONT CONTINUES EASTWARD.
TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN BELOW NORMAL ACROSS THE
NORTH-CENTRAL U.S. IT'S STILL SUMMER-LIKE ACROSS THE DEEP SOUTH
AND EXTENDING EASTWARD TO THE SOUTHEAST COAST WITH HIGHS IN THE
UPPER 80S AND LOWER 90S WITH HIGH HUMIDITY AS THE UPPER LEVEL
RIDGE CONTINUES TO GOVERN THE WEATHER PATTERN.

A PACIFIC LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL MOVE INLAND TONIGHT OVER PARTS
OF WASHINGTON AND BRITISH COLUMBIA. A PLUME OF HEAVY SHOWERS AHEAD
OF IT THAT WOULD AFFECT THE GREATER SEATTLE AREA AND MAINLY POINTS
NORTH AND WEST.
