...SHOWERS AND STORMS MOVING INTO THE MID-ATLANTIC AND SOUTHEAST
ON TUESDAY, SOME MAY BECOME STRONG TO SEVERE...

..BELOW-NORMAL TEMPERATURES SPREADING THROUGH THE CENTRAL U.S.

...INCREASING FIRE WEATHER DANGER FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHERN
CALIFORNIA...

SHOWERS AND STORMS WILL CONTINUE TO SHIFT EAST AHEAD OF AN
ADVANCING FRONTAL SYSTEM MOVING QUICKLY FROM THE MIDWEST INTO THE
EASTERN U.S. LATER TODAY. SOME OF THESE STORMS MAY BECOME STRONG
TO SEVERE, PARTICULARLY IN THE CHESAPEAKE BAY-DELMARVA REGION,
WHERE THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER IS HIGHLIGHTING THE THREAT WITH
A SLIGHT RISK FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ON TUESDAY. THE FRONT IS
EXPECTED TO CLEAR THE NORTHEAST AND MID-ATLANTIC COAST, WITH DRIER
AIR SPREADING ACROSS THE REGION TUESDAY EVENING. THE FRONT IS
EXPECTED TO STALL FROM THE SOUTHEAST BACK INTO THE SOUTHERN PLAINS
WHERE IT WILL REMAIN A FOCUS ADDITIONAL SHOWERS AND STORMS THROUGH
THE MIDDLE PART OF THE WEEK.

ELSEWHERE, A FRONTAL BOUNDARY DRAPED ALONG THE NORTHERN ROCKIES
WILL SUPPORT PERIODS OF SNOW WITH SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS
POSSIBLE ACROSS THE NORTHERN IDAHO, WESTERN MONTANA AND WESTERN
WYOMING RANGES. AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE MOVING EAST ACROSS THE
CENTRAL ROCKIES WILL INTRODUCE SOME WINTRY WEATHER TO THE CENTRAL
PLAINS ON THURSDAY.

COLDER AIR IS FORECAST TO SPREAD SOUTHEAST FROM THE NORTHERN HIGH
PLAINS THROUGH THE CENTRAL U.S. OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. ON
WEDNESDAY, DAYTIME HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN WELL-BELOW NORMAL
ACROSS A LARGE PORTION OF THE PLAINS, INCLUDING AREAS AS FAR SOUTH
AS THE SOUTHERN HIGH PLAINS. BY THURSDAY, THE COLDER AIR WILL
BEGIN TO EXTEND ITS REACH FURTHER EAST INTO THE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY.

DRY WEATHER WILL PREVAIL FROM CALIFORNIA THROUGH THE GREAT BASIN
AND SOUTHWEST. A FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS IN EFFECT BEGINNING
WEDNESDAY FOR A LARGE PORTION OF INTERIOR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA,
WHERE GUSTY WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITIES WILL BRING AN
INCREASED FIRE WEATHER DANGER.
