HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE GREAT BASIN WILL SUPPORT DRY CONDITIONS AND  
OFFSHORE WINDS, CONTRIBUTING TO A CRITICAL TO EXTREME FIRE WEATHER  
THREAT ACROSS PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ON FRIDAY. RED FLAG  
WARNINGS REMAIN IN EFFECT FOR PORTIONS OF THE REGION THROUGH LATE  
FRIDAY. WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO DIMINISH ON SATURDAY AS HIGH  
PRESSURE OVER THE GREAT BASIN WEAKENS. HOWEVER GUSTY WINDS ARE  
EXPECTED TO RETURN ON SUNDAY AS ANOTHER FRONT, FOLLOWED BY HIGH  
PRESSURE SETTLES INTO THE GREAT BASIN.  
 
FROM NORTHERN TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA THROUGH THE TENNESSEE VALLEY,  
FREEZE WATCHES AND WARNING ARE IN EFFECT FOR FRIDAY NIGHT TO  
SATURDAY MORNING AS SOME OF THE COLDEST AIR OF THE SEASON SPREADS  
ACROSS THE CENTRAL U.S. FRIDAY DAYTIME HIGHS ARE EXPECTED TO  
REMAIN WELL BELOW-NORMAL ACROSS MUCH OF THE PLAINS INTO THE  
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY, BEFORE SHIFTING FURTHER EAST INTO THE OHIO AND  
TENNESSEE VALLEYS ON SATURDAY.  
 
A CONSOLIDATING AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE TO BRING  
WIDESPREAD LIGHT TO MODERATE WINTRY PRECIPITATION AS IT DEVELOPS  
AND LIFTS NORTH INTO THE GREAT LAKES ON FRIDAY. AS THE LOW  
CONTINUES TO STRENGTHEN AND TRACK NORTHEAST FROM THE UPPER GREAT  
LAKES INTO EASTERN CANADA, STRONG NORTHERLY WINDS ON THE BACKSIDE  
OF THE SYSTEM WILL SUPPORT LAKE EFFECT SNOWS, WITH AN INCREASING  
THREAT FOR HEAVY ACCUMULATIONS, ESPECIALLY FOR PORTIONS OF  
NORTHERN MICHIGAN FRIDAY INTO EARLY SATURDAY.  
 
LOW PRESSURE DEVELOPING ALONG A STALLED FRONTAL BOUNDARY WILL LIFT  
NORTH ALONG THE MID-ATLANTIC COAST ON FRIDAY, BRINGING A PERIOD OF  
HEAVY RAINS TO THE NORTHEAST AS IT CONTINUES TO STRENGTHEN AND  
TRACK FURTHER TO THE NORTH FRIDAY EVENING. FLOOD AND FLASH FLOOD  
WATCHES ARE IN EFFECT FROM CENTRAL NEW JERSEY TO SOUTHERN MAINE,  
WERE WIDESPREAD RAINFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES, WITH  
LOCALLY HEAVIER AMOUNTS, CAN BE EXPECTED.
