...ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL LIKELY TO EXPAND ACROSS PARTS OF THE  
CENTRAL PLAINS INTO THE MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY FRIDAY INTO  
SATURDAY...  
 
COLD, CYCLONIC FLOW OVER THE NORTHEAST IN THE WAKE OF A SURFACE  
LOW LIFTING NORTH WILL BRING WELL BELOW TEMPERATURES AND BLUSTERY  
CONDITIONS FOR THE REST OF TODAY AND FRIDAY INTO THE REGION.  
ADDITIONALLY, LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL CONTINUE TODAY--ENDING TONIGHT  
AS THE SURFACE LOW CONTINUES MOVING NORTH AND EAST. THERE COULD BE  
SOME LINGERING SHOW SHOWERS IN THE INTERIOR OF NEW ENGLAND ON  
FRIDAY BUT EXPECTED TO BE LIGHT.  
 
MOISTURE WILL BEGIN TO SURGE ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PLAINS EARLY  
FRIDAY AS A FRONT DEVELOPS ALONG A SURFACE LOW IN THE REGION. AS  
THIS FRONTAL SYSTEM PRESSES EASTWARD, SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS  
AHEAD OF THE FRONT WILL MOVE ACROSS CENTRAL TEXAS FRIDAY  
AFTERNOON--ENTERING EAST/SOUTHEAST TEXAS BY SATURDAY MORNING.  
LATER ON SATURDAY, SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL ENTER THE  
SOUTHEAST. ALONG THIS PRECIPITATION SHIELD, HOWEVER, A WINTRY MIX  
AND SNOW WILL DEVELOP ALONG THE NORTH SIDE OF THE SHIELD. ON  
FRIDAY, MOST OF THE SNOW WILL OCCUR ALONG THE COLORADO ROCKIES AND  
IN CENTRAL MISSOURI. HOWEVER, FROM THE COLORADO FRONT RANGE INTO  
THE CENTRAL PLAINS, A MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED. FROM  
FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY, SNOW WILL IMPACT AREAS FROM THE  
CENTRAL PLAINS INTO THE WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE OHIO VALLEY. THE  
HEAVIEST SNOWFALL CONCENTRATE ALONG THE CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI  
VALLEY/WESTERN OHIO VALLEY AREA. FURTHERMORE, SOME LIGHT TO  
MODERATE FREEZING RAIN IS ALSO POSSIBLE, WITH ACCUMULATIONS OF A  
TENTH TO A QUARTER OF AN INCH OF ICE FORECAST ACROSS NORTHERN  
ARKANSAS AND SOUTHERN MISSOURI. BY SATURDAY EVENING, THE WINTRY  
PRECIPITATION WILL BEGIN TO MOVE ACROSS THE OHIO VALLEY WITH SOME  
LIGHT SNOW ENTERING THE CENTRAL APPALACHIANS. SEE WPC'S WINTER

THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND INTERMOUNTAIN WEST WILL HAVE  
PRECIPITATION TAPER OFF BY TONIGHT AND INTO TOMORROW--WITH MOST OF  
THE ACTIVITY OCCURRING IN BRITISH COLUMBIA. A FRONT WILL APPROACH  
CALIFORNIA ON FRIDAY EVENING, INCREASING RAIN AND HIGHER ELEVATION  
SNOW. PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR SOUTHERN  
CALIFORNIA ON SATURDAY.
