...A COASTAL STORM WILL CONTINUE TO BRING RAIN, SNOW, AND GUSTY
WINDS TO PARTS NORTHEAST THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING...

...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO SPREAD EASTWARD
ACROSS THE PLAINS THIS EVENING INTO SATURDAY, AND THEN TOWARD THE
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY WHERE MAJOR TO HISTORIC RIVER FLOODING
CONTINUES...

...A COUPLE ROUNDS OF RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW LIKELY ACROSS THE
WESTERN U.S. THROUGH THE WEEKEND...

A COASTAL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM THAT HAS BROUGHT SOAKING RAINS TO
THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION WILL CONTINUE TO TRACK NORTHEASTWARD OFF
THE COAST OF MAINE THIS EVENING. LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN IS
EXPECTED ACROSS THE COASTAL SECTIONS, CHANGING TO SNOW SHOWERS BY
SATURDAY MORNING. TEMPERATURES WILL BE COLD ENOUGH TO SUPPORT
ACCUMULATING SNOW WELL INLAND ACROSS MUCH OF THE INTERIOR
NORTHEAST, WHERE WINTER STORM WARNINGS HAVE BEEN ISSUED. THE STORM
CENTER WILL BEGIN TO MOVE INTO THE CANADIAN MARITIMES ON SATURDAY
AS THE SNOW GRADUALLY TAPERS OFF DURING THE DAY FROM WEST TO EAST
ACROSS NEW ENGLAND. HOWEVER, THE SIZE OF THE STORM WILL MAINTAIN
GUSTY NORTHWESTERLY WINDS ACROSS MUCH OF THE NORTHEAST INTO
SATURDAY NIGHT.

MEANWHILE, A SYSTEM LOCATED ACROSS THE CENTRAL U.S. IS FORECAST TO
MOVE EASTWARD INTO THE PLAINS THIS EVENING AND INTO SATURDAY. AS
IT DOES SO, THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS TO TURN
SEVERE ACROSS WEST TEXAS AND THE OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE EARLY THIS
EVENING. WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CAN ALSO BE EXPECTED
ON SATURDAY ACROSS THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN PLAINS. BY SUNDAY
MORNING, THE RAIN IS EXPECTED TO SPREAD INTO THE LOWER TO
MID-MISSISSIPPI VALLEY, WHERE MAJOR TO HISTORIC RIVER FLOODING HAS
BEEN ONGOING. AT THE SAME TIME, AN ARCTIC FRONT IS FORECAST TO
REACH THE U.S.-CANADIAN BORDER BY SUNDAY MORNING.

THE WESTERN U.S. WILL STAY ACTIVE AS A PACIFIC SYSTEM MOVES
ONSHORE LATER TODAY AND BRINGS SCATTERED AREAS OF MOUNTAIN SNOW
AND LOWER-ELEVATION RAIN THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING. ANOTHER SYSTEM
WILL BE ON ITS HEELS AND ENTER ON SUNDAY NIGHT WITH MORE RAIN AND
MOUNTAIN SNOW.
