...RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW WILL SPREAD ACROSS THE NORTHWEST AND
INTO THE NORTHERN/CENTRAL ROCKIES...

...RAIN POSSIBLE FOR THE SOUTHEAST MONDAY AND FOR THE ATLANTIC
COAST ON TUESDAY AS A COASTAL LOW DEVELOPS...

...TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN COLDER THAN AVERAGE FOR THE SOUTHERN
PLAINS TO THE NORTHEAST ON MONDAY...

ON MONDAY, A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL SLOWLY APPROACH THE PACIFIC
NORTHWEST, INCREASING MOISTURE AND THE CHANCE FOR PRECIPITATION IN
THE NORTHWEST AND INTO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. ON TUESDAY, THE LOW
MOVING THROUGH THE INTERMOUNTAIN WEST IS EXPECTED TO LEAD TO SNOW
INTO THE NORTHERN AND CENTRAL ROCKIES, AND SNOW AND RAIN SHOULD
SPREAD INTO THE PLAINS BY WEDNESDAY MORNING. HEAVY SNOWS OF 8 TO
12 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN THE SIERRA NEVADA, WHILE 4 TO 8 INCHES
OF SNOW IS FORECAST FOR THE WIND RIVER MOUNTAINS/TETONS.

AHEAD OF THIS LOW SYSTEM, LIGHT RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE
ON MONDAY ACROSS THE NORTHERN ROCKIES TO NORTHERN PLAINS
ASSOCIATED WITH A FRONTAL BOUNDARY. PRECIPITATION WILL SPREAD INTO
THE UPPER/MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AND INTO THE UPPER GREAT LAKES
REGION BY MONDAY NIGHT. A SWATH OF 1 TO 3 INCHES OF SNOW IS
POSSIBLE ACROSS THESE AREAS WITH THIS SYSTEM.

A QUASI-STATIONARY FRONT WILL LINGER ACROSS FLORIDA ON MONDAY AND
MONDAY NIGHT, SO SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE LIKELY THERE. AS AN
UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH APPROACHES ON MONDAY NIGHT AND INTO TUESDAY, A
SURFACE LOW WILL STRENGTHEN AND MOVE NORTHEASTWARD EAST OF THE
ATLANTIC COAST. WHILE THE HEAVIEST RAIN SHOULD REMAIN OFFSHORE,
RAIN COULD SPREAD TO GEORGIA AND THE CAROLINAS ON MONDAY NIGHT,
INTO THE MID-ATLANTIC ON TUESDAY, AND INTO THE NORTHEAST BY
WEDNESDAY MORNING. LIGHT SNOW COULD MIX IN WHERE THE PRECIPITATION
REACHES HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS, AS WELL AS
IN THE NORTHEAST.

TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN COOLER THAN AVERAGE ON MONDAY
ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PLAINS EAST AND NORTHWARD INTO THE NORTHEAST.
A FEW RECORD LOW MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES ARE POSSIBLE
ACROSS TEXAS AND THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY, AND FREEZE WARNINGS
ARE IN EFFECT FOR PARTS OF THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI, TENNESSEE, AND
LOWER OHIO VALLEYS, AND INTO NORTH CAROLINA. TEMPERATURES SHOULD
MODERATE SOME ON TUESDAY, THOUGH THE CAROLINAS WILL REMAIN 15 TO
20 DEGREES BELOW AVERAGE. WARMER THAN AVERAGE SPOTS FOR THE
BEGINNING OF THE WORKWEEK WILL BE THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND THE
SOUTHWEST.
