..EXCESSIVE RAINFALL POSSIBLE OVER COASTAL NORTHEAST TONIGHT  
 
...HEAVY SNOW OVER THE SIERRA NEVADA ON THURSDAY; HIGH WINDS FROM  
THE GREAT BASIN TO FOUR CORNERS REGION ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY...  
 
A POWERFUL MID-LEVEL LOW WILL CONTINUE TO POWER A DYNAMIC LOW  
PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVING FROM THE MIDWEST INTO EAST COAST OVER THE  
NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL SPREAD ACROSS  
PARTS OF THE MID-ATLANTIC/NORTHEAST COASTS TONIGHT. SOME INTENSE  
STORMS MAY DEVELOP AROUND A TRIPLE POINT LOW PROPAGATING FROM THE  
NEW JERSEY COAST UP THROUGH THE SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND COAST  
TONIGHT. THEREFORE, A CORRESPONDING SLIGHT RISK (AT LEAST 15%) OF  
EXCESSIVE RAINFALL LEADING TO FLASH FLOODING IS IN EFFECT FROM  
NORTHERN NEW JERSEY THROUGH NEW YORK CITY AND INTO SOUTHERN  
CONNECTICUT. HEAVY SNOW WILL DEVELOP OVER PARTS OF THE INTERIOR  
NORTHEAST AND CENTRAL NEW ENGLAND TONIGHT AND WILL CONTINUE INTO  
THURSDAY BEFORE WEAKENING INTO SNOW SHOWERS ON FRIDAY BENEATH A  
MEANDERING MID-LEVEL LOW AROUND DOWNEAST MAINE. WIDESPREAD  
SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF OVER A FOOT ARE LIKELY ACROSS PORTIONS  
OF NORTHERN UPSTATE NEW YORK AND CENTRAL/NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND,  
WITH ISOLATED AMOUNTS EXCEEDING 2 FEET POSSIBLE OVER PARTS OF  
SOUTHERN MAINE AND EASTERN NEW HAMPSHIRE BY FRIDAY EVENING.  
MEANWHILE, SNOW SHOWERS WILL OCCUR OVER THE CENTRAL APPALACHIANS  
WITH ACCUMULATIONS BETWEEN 6-12 INCHES POSSIBLE OVER THE NEXT TWO  
DAYS.  
 
ANOTHER DEEP MID-LEVEL TROUGH WILL SUPPORT UNSETTLED WEATHER  
ACROSS MUCH OF THE WEST OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. HEAVY SNOW  
WILL DEVELOP OVER PARTS OF THE NORTHERN ROCKIES TONIGHT AND THEN  
THE SIERRA NEVADA THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THAT EVENING.  
ANYWHERE BETWEEN 1-2 FEET OF SNOW MAY ACCUMULATE OVER THOSE AREAS  
BY FRIDAY NIGHT. THIS SYSTEM WILL ALSO GENERATE STRONG WINDS OVER  
THE CENTRAL GREAT BASIN THURSDAY AFTERNOON WHICH WILL EXPAND INTO  
THE FOUR CORNERS REGION ON FRIDAY.
