THE CENTRAL PLAINS ON FRIDAY...

...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF EXCESSIVE RAINFALL OVER PARTS OF THE
CENTRAL PLAINS AND MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY ON FRIDAY AND THE
CENTRAL/SOUTHERN PLAINS AND MIDDLE/LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY ON
SATURDAY...

...THERE ARE EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNINGS AND HEAT ADVISORIES OVER
PARTS OF CENTRAL/SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, SOUTHWEST, AND THE GREAT
BASIN...

UPPER-LEVEL ENERGY, A WEAK FRONT, AND A SURGE OF MOISTURE MOVING
NORTHWARD OVER THE SOUTHERN PLAINS INTO THE CENTRAL PLAINS WILL
TRIGGER SHOWERS AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER PARTS OF THE CENTRAL
PLAINS. THEREFORE, THE SPC HAS ISSUED A SLIGHT RISK (LEVEL 2/5) OF
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER PARTS OF THE CENTRAL PLAINS THROUGH
SATURDAY MORNING. THE HAZARDS ASSOCIATED WITH THESE THUNDERSTORMS
ARE FREQUENT LIGHTNING, SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS, HAIL, AND
A FEW TORNADOES. IN ADDITION, THERE IS AN ADDED THREAT OF HAIL,
TWO INCHES OR GREATER, OVER CENTRAL NEBRASKA AND NORTH-CENTRAL
KANSAS.

FURTHERMORE, THE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL CREATE HEAVY RAIN
OVER PARTS OF SOUTHEASTERN NEBRASKA, NORTHEASTERN KANSAS,
SOUTHWESTERN IOWA, AND NORTHWESTERN MISSOURI. THEREFORE, THE WPC
HAS ISSUED A SLIGHT RISK (LEVEL 2/4) OF EXCESSIVE RAINFALL OVER
PARTS OF THE CENTRAL PLAINS/MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY. THE
ASSOCIATED HEAVY RAIN WILL CREATE MAINLY LOCALIZED AREAS OF FLASH
FLOODING, WITH URBAN AREAS, ROADS, SMALL STREAMS, AND LOW-LYING
AREAS THE MOST VULNERABLE.

ON SATURDAY, AS THE FRONT PROGRESSES EASTWARD ACROSS THE PLAINS
INTO THE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY, SHOWERS AND STRONG TO SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP OVER PARTS OF THE CENTRAL/SOUTHERN
PLAINS AND THE MIDDLE/LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY. THEREFORE, THE SPC
HAS ISSUED A MARGINAL RISK (LEVEL 1/5) OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS
OVER PARTS OF THE CENTRAL/SOUTHERN PLAINS AND THE MIDDLE/LOWER
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY FROM SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING. THE
HAZARDS ASSOCIATED WITH THESE THUNDERSTORMS ARE FREQUENT
LIGHTNING, SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS, HAIL, AND A FEW
TORNADOES.

THE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL ALSO DEVELOP HEAVY RAIN OVER
PARTS OF THE CENTRAL/ SOUTHERN PLAINS AND MIDDLE/LOWER MISSISSIPPI
VALLEY. THEREFORE, THE WPC HAS ISSUED A SLIGHT RISK (LEVEL 2/4) OF
EXCESSIVE RAINFALL OVER PARTS OF THE CENTRAL/SOUTHERN PLAINS AND
MIDDLE/LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY FROM SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY
MORNING. THE ASSOCIATED HEAVY RAIN WILL CREATE MAINLY LOCALIZED
AREAS OF FLASH FLOODING, WITH URBAN AREAS, ROADS, SMALL STREAMS,
AND LOW-LYING AREAS THE MOST VULNERABLE.

FURTHERMORE, AN UPPER-LEVEL LOW OVER THE GREAT LAKES/NORTHEAST
WILL HELP PRODUCE RAIN OVER PARTS OF THE GREAT LAKES AND THE
NORTHEAST THROUGH SUNDAY. ANOTHER AREA OF UPPER-LEVEL ENERGY WILL
HELP CREATE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER PARTS OF THE SOUTHEAST
THROUGH SUNDAY.

FURTHERMORE, UPPER-LEVEL RIDGING OVER CALIFORNIA AND THE SOUTHWEST
HELPS SPAWN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNINGS AND ADVISORIES OVER PARTS OF
CENTRAL/SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, THE SOUTHWEST, AND THE GREAT BASIN.
