SUBJECT: UPDATED: SOLICITING COMMENTS ON THE EXPERIMENTAL  
PROBABILISTIC QUANTITATIVE PRECIPITATION FORECAST (PQPF)  
WEBPAGES THROUGH NOVEMBER 21, 2025  
 
UPDATED TO EXTEND THE COMMENT PERIOD AND TO ADD ADDITIONAL  
PARTICIPATING WEATHER FORECAST OFFICES (WFOS).  
 
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE (NWS) IS SOLICITING COMMENTS ON THE  
LOCAL WFO EXPERIMENTAL PROBABILISTIC QUANTITATIVE PRECIPITATION  
FORECAST (PQPF) WEBPAGES. STARTING FEBRUARY 10, 2025, THE  
EXPERIMENT WILL BE EXPANDED TO ALL CONTIGUOUS UNITED STATES  
(CONUS) WFOS.  
 
THE PQPF FORECAST GRAPHICS AND TABLE ON THE LOCAL PQPF WEBPAGES  
ARE POPULATED FROM THE EXPERIMENTAL PROBABILISTIC PRECIPITATION  
PORTAL (PPP). THE PPP CAN BE ACCESSED HERE:

THE PROVISION AND USE OF PQPF INFORMATION IN THE FORECAST  
PRODUCTION PROCESS WILL PROVIDE CUSTOMERS AND PARTNERS WITH A  
POTENTIAL RANGE OF FORECAST ACCUMULATED PRECIPITATION, A  
CAPABILITY THAT IS NOT CURRENTLY POSSIBLE WITH EXISTING  
DETERMINISTIC QPF PRODUCTS ISSUED BY WFOS.  
 
THIS INFORMATION WILL ALLOW FOR BETTER COMMUNICATION OF FORECAST  
UNCERTAINTY AND PROVIDE MORE EFFECTIVE IMPACT-BASED DECISION  
SUPPORT SERVICES FOR COMMUNITIES SENSITIVE TO HEAVY RAINFALL.
