THROUGH 06Z, WHICH WOULD PRODUCE SCATTERED AREAS OF FLASH FLOODING.  
URBAN LOCATIONS COULD SEE SIGNIFICANT STREET FLOODING SHOULD  
THUNDERSTORMS TRAIN OVER THE REGION. AS THE COMPLEX PUSHES  
SOUTHWARD THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN  
IL/IN, RAINFALL RATES AND THE THREAT OF BACKBUILDING STORMS SHOULD  
DIMINISH AS BETTER FORCING SHIFTS EASTWARD INTO THE UPPER OHIO

STATES, WITH SOME ORGANIZATION POSSIBLE THROUGH 20-30 KTS OF BULK  
SHEAR. WHILE PWS WILL STILL BE +1 TO +2 SIGMA FROM AZ THROUGH WY,  
THE MOST IMPRESSIVE CAPE (APPROACHING 750 J/KG) LOOK TO BE CONFINED  
TO AZ/NM, WHICH CAN BE A BETTER DISCRIMINATOR FOR EXCESSIVE  
RAINFALL POTENTIAL WITHIN THE MONSOON. HOWEVER, ANY CONVECTION HAS  
THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE INTENSE RAIN RATES LEADING TO HOURLY  
RAINFALL OF 1-1.5", WHICH COULD PRODUCE AT LEAST ISOLATED FLASH  
FLOOD RESPONSES OVER VULNERABLE TERRAIN FEATURES OR BURN SCARS.  
 
STORMS THAT DEVELOP ACROSS UT/WY/CO MAY FEATURE FASTER FORWARD  
PROPAGATION (AFTER BRIEF SLOW DOWNS DURING INITIATION) SO THE MRGL  
RISK WAS EXPANDED SLIGHTLY INTO THE CENTRAL PLAINS. HOWEVER, THIS  
FASTER MOTION SHOULD AT LEAST SOMEWHAT LIMIT THE RUNOFF POTENTIAL.  
FARTHER SOUTH INTO AZ A SHORTWAVE MOVING ALONG THE MEXICO/ARIZONA  
BORDER WITHIN THE ELEVATED SHEAR MAY HELP ORGANIZED CLUSTERS OF  
STORMS MOVING MORE SLOWLY WESTWARD, AND THIS IS REFLECTED BY  
ELEVATED (BUT STILL MODEST) PROBABILITIES FOR 3" OF RAIN TODAY.

A POTENT SHORTWAVE DIVING OUT OF ONTARIO ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES  
WILL INTERACT WITH A COMPLEX SURFACE PATTERN OVER THE REGION TO  
DRIVE SCATTERED TO WIDESPREAD THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH THE DAY.  
ACTIVITY THIS MORNING IS ALREADY PRODUCING HEAVY RAINFALL RATES  
MEASURED VIA MRMS OF OVER 1"/HR WITHIN THE PRONOUNCED ASCENT AS IT  
IMPINGES UPON AN IMPRESSIVE OVERLAP OF PW/CAPE MEASURED VIA MORNING

BECOME INCREASINGLY WIDESPREAD AS THE SHORTWAVE DIVES SOUTH AND

THE GREAT LAKES AND SOUTHEAST TOWARDS THE OHIO VALLEY/CENTRAL  
APPALACHIANS). WHILE THE THERMODYNAMIC ENVIRONMENT WILL SUPPORT  
INTENSE RAIN RATES WITHIN ANY THUNDERSTORMS TODAY, AND 40-50KTS OF  
BULK SHEAR WILL HELP ORGANIZE STORMS INTO CLUSTERS AND/OR  
SUPERCELLS, MEAN WINDS OF 30-40 KTS SUGGEST CONVECTION WILL REMAIN

THE ACCOMPANYING HEIGHT FALLS WILL RESULT IN BROAD DEEP LAYER  
ASCENT FROM THE MID-ATLANTIC INTO NEW ENGLAND. AT THE SAME TIME,  
THE DEEPENING SYSTEM WILL FORCE ACCELERATION OF THE 850MB INFLOW,  
REFLECTED BY NAEFS PERCENTILES IN THE 850MB WIND TO ABOVE THE 99TH  
PERCENTILE, FORCING ROBUST MOISTURE CONVERGENCE INTO THE MID-

DESPITE THE MDT RISK IN PLACE FOR THE TRI-STATE AREA, IT SHOULD BE  
NOTED THAT THE REFS PROBABILITIES ARE A BIT DISPLACED SOUTH FROM  
THE HREF, AND FOCUS THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL CLOSER TO PHILADELPHIA.  
THE SURROUNDING SLGT RISK HAS BEEN EXPANDED TO ACCOUNT FOR THIS  
POTENTIAL, AND THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR ADDITIONAL ADJUSTMENTS TO THE  
HIGHER-END RISK AREAS IN PLACE FOR TUESDAY/TUESDAY NIGHT.  
   
..FOUR CORNERS STATES ACROSS THE CENTRAL PLAINS

FOR CONVECTION ACROSS THE EASTERN GULF AND INTO PARTS OF SOUTH  
FLORIDA AND THE KEYS. MEAN 0-6KM WINDS OF JUST 5-10 KTS WILL BE  
ALIGNED SW TO NW, ANTI- PARALLEL TO COLLAPSED CORFIDI VECTORS, AND  
PARALLEL TO THE KEYS. THIS SUGGESTS THAT CONVECTION WILL REPEATEDLY  
BUILD ACROSS THE GULF WHERE PWS WILL BE POOLED AT 2-2.25 INCHES

SOUTHWARD TOWARDS THE OZARKS, BUT BECOME ALIGNED PARALLEL TO THE  
MID-LEVEL FLOW CAUSING IT TO STALL IN A NW TO SE ORIENTED FASHION.  
AS THE SHORTWAVE MOVES ALONG THIS FRONT TUESDAY NIGHT IT WILL HELP  
ACCELERATE THE ALREADY INTENSIFYING LLJ TO DRAW ROBUST  
THERMODYNAMICS NORTHWARD. THIS WILL SUPPORT ORGANIZING CLUSTERS OF

ON DAY 4 (THURSDAY-THURSDAY NIGHT), CONVECTIVELY-AIDED SHORTWAVE  
ENERGY PROGRESSING EAST FROM THE CENTRAL-NORTHERN PLAINS WILL  
AMPLIFY A BIT (DIG A BIT FARTHER SOUTH) UPON REACHING THE LOWER MO-  
MID MS VALLEYS) DURING THIS TIME AS THE ~600DM 500MB HIGH BECOMES  
CENTERED FARTHER WEST TOWARD THE FOUR CORNERS. THERE'S NEAR TO  
ABOVE AVERAGE DISCREPANCY AMONGST THE 12Z GLOBAL GUIDANCE. THE  
GFS/ GEFS MEAN/AIGFS ARE A BIT FARTHER EAST COMPARED TO THE  
ECMWF/ECENS MEAN/EC AIFS, WITH THE CMC CAMP BASICALLY IN THE MIDDLE  
IN TERMS OF EASTWARD PROGRESSION. IN ADDITION, THERE REMAINS  
LATITUDINAL DIFFERENCES WITH THE HEAVIEST QPF, WITH THE 00Z UKMET  
THE FARTHEST NORTH. GIVEN THE MCS/UPSCALE GROWTH POTENTIAL WITH  
THIS SYSTEM, CONSIDERING THE INFLUX OF 2-2.25+ PWS PER THE  
GUIDANCE, CONCENTRATED AREAS OF HEAVY RAIN ARE EXPECTED, ESPECIALLY  
ACROSS THE CORN BELT GIVEN THE DEEP-LAYER MOISTURE PROFILE AND  
HIGH SURFACE DEWPOINTS. CERTAINLY AN EVENT THAT WOULD WARRANT A  
SLIGHT RISK, WHICH FOR NOW WE'VE CONFINED ACROSS EASTERN SD, FAR  
EASTERN NE AND NORTHEAST KS, INTO NORTHWEST MO, WESTERN 2/3 OF  
IOWA, AND SOUTHERN MN, WHERE THE GLOBAL ENSEMBLE PROBABILITIES OF  
>3" IN 12/24 HOURS ARE HIGHEST.  
 
ON DAY 5 (FRIDAY-FRIDAY NIGHT), HAVE ESSENTIALLY SHIFTED THE  
SLIGHT RISK AREA FARTHER DOWNSTREAM (EAST-SOUTHEAST) PER THE GLOBAL  
GUIDANCE CONSENSUS. GLOBALS ALL SHOW SPOTTY HEAVY 24HR RAINFALL  
TOTALS, I.E. 3-5+ INCHES, THOUGH AGAIN WITH SOME SPATIAL SPREAD IN  
THE GUIDANCE. ECENS QPF EXCEEDANCE PROBABILITIES HAVE COME UP FROM  
THE PREVIOUS RUN, AND ARE CERTAINLY HIGHER COMPARED TO THE DAY 4  
PERIOD (MORE EXPANDED AREA OF 3 TO 5 INCH PROBABILITIES).  
   
..FOUR CORNERS STATES INTO THE CENTRAL/NORTHERN PLAINS  
 
MONSOONAL FLOW AND ANOMALOUS DEEP-LAYER MOISTURE WILL MAINTAIN A  
MARGINAL (ISOLATED) EXCESSIVE RAINFALL RISK OVER EASTERN AZ AND  
MUCH OF MN (EXCEPT SE PORTION) INTO SOUTHEAST UT AND THROUGH MUCH  
OF CO. THE EXPANDING MID/UPPER LEVEL RIDGE (600DM HEIGHTS AT 500  
MB) WILL LIKELY LIMIT THE COVERAGE COMPARED TO RECENT DAYS,  
ESPECIALLY BY FRIDAY.  
   
..CENTRAL GULF COAST REGION INTO PARTS OF THE SOUTHEAST  
 
HEAVY RAINFALL IS EXPECTED ALONG THE NEW ENGLAND CYCLONE'S  
TRAILING FRONT NEAR THE FL/GA BORDER. MOISTURE SHOULD BE AMPLE AND  
THERE COULD BE ENOUGH EFFECTIVE BULK SHEAR FOR CONVECTIVE  
ORGANIZATION. THE INHERITED MARGINAL RISK AREAS FOR THURSDAY INTO  
FRIDAY NIGHT SAW ONLY A FEW COSMETIC CHANGES TO BETTER FIT THE  
MOST RECENT QPF GUIDANCE.
