HAWAII EXTENDED FORECAST DISCUSSION
NWS WEATHER PREDICTION CENTER COLLEGE PARK MD
355 AM EDT SUN MAR 24 2024

VALID 00Z MON MAR 25 2024 - 00Z MON APR 01 2024

A SURFACE HIGH TO THE NORTH-NORTHEAST OF HAWAII REMAINS IN PLACE
FOR SUNDAY, PROMOTING BREEZY TO WINDY EASTERLY TRADES. THE
EASTERLY TRADES ARE ALSO SUPPORTED ALOFT BY A CLOSED MID-UPPER LOW
THAT IS CENTERED SOUTH OF THE STATE, THUS PROMOTING EASTERLY FLOW
ON ITS NORTHERN SIDE. MOISTURE LEVELS MAY SLIGHTLY INCREASE EARLY
THIS WEEK UNDER THIS UPPER LOW, AND AS THE LOW LOOKS TO JOIN UP
WITH THE NORTHERN STREAM TUESDAY-WEDNESDAY THIS COULD LESSEN
STABILITY A BIT. SOME WINDWARD/MAUKA SHOWERS REMAIN POSSIBLE, BUT
THESE CHANGES ONLY SEEM TO PRODUCE MINOR IF ANY INCREASES IN
PRECIPITATION COVERAGE IN THE MODEL GUIDANCE. ADDITIONALLY, A
MINOR DROP IN WINDS IS POSSIBLE AROUND MONDAY-TUESDAY AS THE
SURFACE HIGH SHIFTS FARTHER EAST, BEFORE ANOTHER HIGH COMES IN TO
THE NORTH OF THE STATE AND STRENGTHENS WINDS AGAIN AROUND MIDWEEK
AND BEYOND. THUS, TYPICAL TRADE WIND WEATHER IS LIKELY THROUGH
MUCH OF THE WEEK.
