HAWAII EXTENDED FORECAST DISCUSSION
NWS WEATHER PREDICTION CENTER COLLEGE PARK MD
332 AM EDT SUN APR 21 2024

VALID 00Z MON APR 22 2024 - 00Z MON APR 29 2024

HAWAII AND THE SURROUNDING MARITIME ZONES ARE EXPECTED TO HAVE AN
UNEVENTFUL WEEK AHEAD IN THE WEATHER DEPARTMENT WITH THE MAIN
SUBTROPICAL HIGH SITUATED 30-35 DEGREES NORTH FOR MUCH OF THE
FORECAST PERIOD. THE GUIDANCE SUGGESTS THAT THE CORE OF THE
SURFACE HIGH WILL MOVE TO A POSITION NORTHEAST OF THE STATE BY THE
END OF THE WEEK, WITH A COL DEVELOPING WITHIN THE RIDGE BY THIS
TIME AS SUGGESTED BY THE LATEST ENSEMBLE GUIDANCE.

THERE WILL LIKELY BE A WEAK SURFACE TROUGH THAT APPROACHES THE
NORTHWESTERN ISLANDS BY FRIDAY, WITH THE ACCOMPANYING SURFACE
FRONT LIKELY REMAINING NORTHWEST OF THE STATE THROUGH THE END OF
THE WEEK, AND THE WEATHER IMPACTS TO THE STATE WILL LIKELY BE
MINIMAL. LIGHT TO MODERATE TRADE WIND SHOWERS ARE LIKELY EACH DAY
FOR THE FAVORED TERRAIN, AND MAINLY DRY FOR SOUTHWESTERN PORTIONS
OF THE ISLANDS.
