HAWAII EXTENDED FORECAST DISCUSSION
NWS WEATHER PREDICTION CENTER COLLEGE PARK MD
256 AM EDT FRI MAY 24 2024

VALID 00Z SAT MAY 25 2024 - 00Z SAT JUN 1 2024

SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE SHOULD GENERALLY BE CENTERED TO THE NORTH
AND NORTHEAST OF HAWAII FOR MUCH OF THE UPCOMING WEEK, AND A
SLOWLY RETROGRADING INVERTED SURFACE TROUGH COUPLED WITH A
LINGERING UPPER LEVEL LOW WEST OF THE MAIN POPULATED ISLANDS.
ALOFT, A BROAD UPPER LEVEL RIDGE AXIS IS FORECAST TO BE IN PLACE
AND THIS SHOULD KEEP THE TROUGH AWAY FROM THE STATE.

THE MODELS ARE IN GOOD OVERALL AGREEMENT THAT THE HEAVIER RAINFALL
ASSOCIATED WITH THIS DISTURBANCE SHOULD AVOID MOST OF THE STATE,
ALTHOUGH THE NORMAL TRADE WIND ENHANCED SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED TO
CONTINUE WITH EAST OR EAST-SOUTHEASTERLY LOW LEVEL FLOW ON MOST
DAYS. THE GUIDANCE DOES INDICATE A GRADUAL INCREASE IN
PRECIPITABLE WATER VALUES GOING INTO THE MIDDLE TO END OF NEXT
WEEK, SO THIS COULD RESULT IN AN INCREASE IN SHOWERS.
