HAWAII EXTENDED FORECAST DISCUSSION
NWS WEATHER PREDICTION CENTER COLLEGE PARK MD
317 AM EDT WED JUL 17 2024

VALID 00Z THU JUL 18 2024 - 00Z THU JUL 25 2024

BREEZY TRADES AND SUPPORTING HIGH PRESSURE TO THE NORTH OF THE
HAWAIIAN ISLANDS SHOULD EASE TODAY. A FAVORED COMPOSITE OF
REASONABLY WELL CLUSTERED MODELS AND ENSEMBLES INDICATES THAT A
MOSTLY DRY PATTERN WITH MAINLY LIGHT SHOWERS FOR WINDWARD/MAUKA
LOCATIONS MAY LINGER WITH THE STATE IN A POSITION TO THE WEST OF A
MAIN UPPER TROUGH. SOME INFLUX OF INCREASED MOISTURE INTO THE
ISLANDS FROM THE SOUTHEAST OF THE STATE BY THE WEEKEND MAY FUEL
SOME UPTICK OF PRECIPITATION CHANCES INTO THE ISLANDS. HIGH
PRESSURE REBUILDING TO THE NORTH OF THE STATE LATER WEEKEND INTO
EARLY-MID NEXT WEEK WILL ACT TO REJUVENATE TRADES. THE NATIONAL
HURRICANE CENTER IS ALSO MONITORING AN AREA OF INTEREST OVER THE
TROPICAL EASTERN PACIFIC THAT COULD BRING SOME DEEPER MOISTURE
INTO THE ISLANDS TO FUEL SHOWERS LATE PERIOD.
