HAWAII EXTENDED FORECAST DISCUSSION
NWS WEATHER PREDICTION CENTER COLLEGE PARK MD
351 AM EDT SUN SEP 15 2024

VALID 00Z MON SEP 16 2024 - 00Z MON SEP 23 2024

THE FORECAST REMAINS QUITE AGREEABLE THAT LATE SUNDAY INTO MONDAY,
TROPICAL MOISTURE (WITH PRECIPITABLE WATER VALUES REACHING NEAR OR
OVER 2 INCHES) IS FORECAST TO BE PULLED NORTH INTO HAWAII. THE BIG
ISLAND CAN EXPECT HEAVY SHOWERS ESPECIALLY FOR THE EASTERN HALF OF
THE ISLAND PER THE HREF AND GLOBAL MODELS. SOME INCREASED
MOISTURE, THOUGH TO A LESSER EXTENT, WILL AFFECT THE OTHER ISLANDS
AS WELL. MAUI MAY BE A PARTICULAR FOCUS FOR WINDWARD SHOWERS,
WHILE IT IS LIKELY TO BE MUGGY WITH SOME SHOWERS ACROSS THE WHOLE
STATE. MOISTURE LEVELS SHOULD RETURN CLOSER TO NORMAL BY MIDWEEK.

MEANWHILE, BREEZY EASTERLY TRADE WINDS ARE POSSIBLE ON MONDAY AS
THE TYPICAL PRESSURE GRADIENT TIGHTENS UP TEMPORARILY. AFTER THAT,
MODERATE TO LOCALLY BREEZY TRADES ARE FORECAST, WITH SOME SHOWERS
BUT NOT ANY WIDESPREAD HEAVY RAIN.
