HAWAII EXTENDED FORECAST DISCUSSION
NWS WEATHER PREDICTION CENTER COLLEGE PARK MD
327 AM EDT SAT OCT 12 2024

VALID 00Z SUN OCT 13 2024 - 00Z SUN OCT 20 2024

LIGHT TO MODERATE TRADES ARE LIKELY INTO THE WEEKEND, WITH NOTHING
STRONGER EXPECTED GIVEN A WEAKER THAN TYPICAL SURFACE HIGH TO THE
NORTH OF HAWAII. UPPER RIDGING ALOFT WILL KEEP SHOWERS ON THE
LIGHT SIDE, FAVORING WINDWARD AREAS. BY AROUND MONDAY, MODELS SHOW
A SURFACE TROUGH ACCOMPANIED BY AN INCREASE IN MOISTURE MOVING
EAST TO WEST ACROSS THE STATE FOR SOME MINOR ENHANCEMENT OF
RAINFALL. TRADES ARE FORECAST TO STRENGTHEN AROUND
TUESDAY-THURSDAY AS THE SURFACE RIDGE TO THE NORTH RETURNS. BY
LATER NEXT WEEK THE TRADES LOOK TO DECREASE ONCE AGAIN, WHILE A
WEAK UPPER LOW APPROACHES THE STATE AND COULD CAUSE ANOTHER
POTENTIAL SURGE IN MOISTURE, WHICH WILL CONTINUE TO BE MONITORED.
