HAWAII EXTENDED FORECAST DISCUSSION
NWS WEATHER PREDICTION CENTER COLLEGE PARK MD
348 AM EDT SUN OCT 13 2024

VALID 00Z MON OCT 14 2024 - 00Z MON OCT 21 2024

LIGHT TO MODERATE TRADES WITH PERHAPS SOME SEA/LAND BREEZES ARE
FORECAST TO CONTINUE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, WITH NOTHING
STRONGER EXPECTED GIVEN A WEAKER THAN TYPICAL SURFACE HIGH TO THE
NORTH OF HAWAII. UPPER RIDGING ALOFT WILL KEEP SHOWERS ON THE
LIGHT SIDE, UNTIL INTO MONDAY WHEN A SURFACE TROUGH ACCOMPANIED BY
AN INCREASE IN MOISTURE IS FORECAST TO MOVE EAST TO WEST ACROSS
THE STATE FOR SOME MINOR ENHANCEMENT OF RAINFALL. TRADES ARE
FORECAST TO STRENGTHEN AROUND TUESDAY-WEDNESDAY AS THE SURFACE
RIDGE TO THE NORTH RETURNS. BY THURSDAY OR FRIDAY THE TRADES LOOK
TO DECREASE ONCE AGAIN, WHILE A WEAK UPPER LOW AND PERHAPS A
SURFACE TROUGH APPROACH THE STATE AND CAUSE ANOTHER SURGE OF ABOVE
AVERAGE MOISTURE THAT COULD ENHANCE RAINFALL AMOUNTS IN FAVORED
WINDWARD LOCATIONS ESPECIALLY. MOISTURE LEVELS SHOULD RETURN
CLOSER TO NORMAL INTO THE WEEKEND.
