HAWAII EXTENDED FORECAST DISCUSSION
NWS WEATHER PREDICTION CENTER COLLEGE PARK MD
235 AM EST SAT NOV 23 2024

VALID 00Z SUN NOV 24 2024 - 00Z SUN DEC 01 2024

A SURFACE RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE STRETCHING WEST TO EAST ACROSS
HAWAII WILL LEAD TO DRY CONDITIONS OVER THE WEEKEND, WITH
PRECIPITABLE WATER VALUES GENERALLY BELOW AN INCH AND DEWPOINTS
INTO THE 60S, AND FEW IF ANY SHOWERS. THE RIDGE WILL ALSO PROMOTE
LIGHT WINDS, ALLOWING LAND AND SEA BREEZES TO FORM. BY LATE SUNDAY
INTO MONDAY, A WEAK FRONT IS FORECAST TO APPROACH KAUAI AND MOVE
SOUTHWARD AS IT DISSIPATES. SOME WEAK MOISTURE CONVERGENCE
ALONG/AHEAD OF THE FRONTS AND SLIGHTLY MOISTENING PWS COULD LEAD
TO A FEW MORE SHOWERS IN THE WESTERN ISLANDS, BUT WITH NO
WIDESPREAD HEAVY AMOUNTS. WINDS SHOULD ALSO SHIFT TO BE FROM THE
NORTH BEHIND THE FRONT, BUT LIKELY REMAINING ON THE WEAK SIDE. BY
THE LATTER HALF OF NEXT WEEK WINDS ARE FORECAST TO TURN BACK TO
THE MORE TYPICAL EASTERLY DIRECTION AND STRENGTHEN A BIT TO
MODERATE LEVELS AS A WEAK SURFACE RIDGE SETS UP TO THE NORTH.
GENERALLY DRY CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY TO CONTINUE, BUT ANY SHOWERS
THAT DO DEVELOP WOULD FAVOR WINDWARD AND MOUNTAIN AREAS.
