HAWAII EXTENDED FORECAST DISCUSSION
NWS WEATHER PREDICTION CENTER COLLEGE PARK MD
233 AM EST TUE FEB 25 2025

VALID 00Z WED FEB 26 2025 - 00Z WED MAR 05 2025

THE LATEST MODEL AND ENSEMBLE GUIDANCE FOR HAWAII CONTINUES TO
FAVOR MEAN UPPER RIDGING PERSISTING OVER THE STATE FOR THE NEXT
WEEK WITH GENERALLY LIGHT TO MODERATE TRADES, WITH SOME
VARIABILITY IN SPEED AND DIRECTION AS A COUPLE OF COLD FRONTS PASS
TO THE NORTH OF THE STATE. SHOWERS MAY FAVOR WINDWARD LOCATIONS AT
TIMES, BUT SHOULD BE VERY LIGHT AND SCATTERED IN NATURE. A FRONT
APPROACHING THE ISLANDS AROUND THE WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY MAY
BRING MORE SOUTHERLY WINDS AND A SLIGHT UPTICK IN SHOWERY
ACTIVITY, ESPECIALLY FOR WESTERN ISLANDS. ONCE THIS PASSES, WINDS
SHOULD SHIFT MORE EASTERLY AGAIN AS UPPER RIDGING STRENGTHENS OVER
THE STATE. SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE MOVING IN NORTH OF HAWAII MAY
BRING STRONGER WIND SPEEDS, BUT WITH A MOSTLY DRY AND STABLE
WEATHER PATTERN INTO NEXT WEEKEND AND EARLY NEXT WEEK.
