HAWAII EXTENDED FORECAST DISCUSSION
NWS WEATHER PREDICTION CENTER COLLEGE PARK MD
246 AM EST SAT MAR 08 2025

VALID 00Z SUN MAR 09 2025 - 00Z SUN MAR 16 2025

THE GENERAL PATTERN ACROSS HAWAII FOR THE WEEKEND INTO NEXT WEEK
WILL CONSIST OF BREEZY TO WINDY TRADES AND SHOWERS FAVORING
WINDWARD/MAUKA AREAS. SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE WILL SET UP NORTH OF
THE STATE (ON AVERAGE AROUND 35N) TO PROMOTE THESE EASTERLY WINDS.
PERIODIC WEAK REMNANTS OF FRONTS COULD ENHANCE SHOWERS AT TIMES,
INCLUDING AROUND MONDAY.

LATER NEXT WEEK, THE SURFACE HIGH IS FORECAST TO DRIFT
SOUTHEASTWARD, AND MEANWHILE AN UPPER TROUGH PUSHING A COLD FRONT
WILL APPROACH WEST OF THE STATE. THIS COMBINATION WILL ALLOW WINDS
TO VEER A BIT BUT REMAIN BREEZY, AND REORIENT BEST RAIN CHANCES ON
THE SOUTHEASTERN SIDES OF THE ISLANDS. WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR IF
MORE NOTABLE MOISTURE AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT WILL MAKE IT TO AT
LEAST KAUAI AROUND NEXT WEEKEND AS MODELS DISAGREE (CURRENTLY GFS
RUNS SHOW GREATLY INCREASED MOISTURE WHILE ECMWF RUNS ARE MORE
MODEST).
