HAWAII EXTENDED FORECAST DISCUSSION
NWS WEATHER PREDICTION CENTER COLLEGE PARK MD
346 AM EDT TUE MAR 11 2025

VALID 00Z WED 12 MAR 2025 - 00Z WED 19 MAR 2025

OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS, SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE IN PLACE TO THE
NORTH OF HAWAII WILL PROMOTE CONTINUED WINDY TRADES, WITH
CHANNELING STRONG WINDS IN FAVORED AREAS. SOME MOISTURE IN PLACE
WILL PRODUCE SHOWERS FAVORING WINDWARD AND MAUKA AREAS, WITH SOME
SPILLING INTO LEEWARD AREAS, BUT GENERALLY LESS SHOWER COVERAGE IS
LIKELY THAN THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS.

LATER THIS WEEK INTO THE WEEKEND, THE FIRST SURFACE HIGH IS
FORECAST TO DRIFT SOUTHEASTWARD, ALLOWING FOR WINDS TO WEAKEN TO
MORE MODERATE LEVELS ON SATURDAY. BUT ANOTHER SURFACE HIGH
TRAVERSING EASTWARD TO THE NORTH OF THE STATE WILL LIKELY
RESTRENGTHEN TRADES EARLY NEXT WEEK. MEANWHILE, AN UPPER TROUGH
AXIS IS FORECAST TO APPROACH FROM THE WEST WITH SOME LOWERING
HEIGHTS OVER HAWAII. THIS PLUS A FRONT STALLING TO THE WEST WILL
DRAW HIGHER MOISTURE NORTHWARD ACROSS HAWAII, LEADING TO MORE
SHOWERS AT LEAST IN THE WESTERN ISLANDS BY EARLY NEXT WEEK. WILL
CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LIKELIHOOD FOR INCREASES IN RAIN AMOUNTS
BY THAT TIME.
