KUSKOKWIM DELTA-
144 PM AKST WED DEC 18 2024

...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO
11 AM AKST THURSDAY...

* WHAT...WATER LEVELS AS HIGH AS 3 TO 4 FEET ABOVE NORMAL HIGHEST
TIDE ARE EXPECTED, WITH LOCALLY HIGHER WATER LEVELS POSSIBLE.

* WHERE...KWIGILLINGOK.

* WHEN...WATER LEVELS WILL RISE OVERNIGHT TONIGHT AND REMAIN
ELEVATED THROUGH LATE THURSDAY MORNING. THE HIGHEST WATER LEVELS
WILL COINCIDE WITH HIGH TIDE.

* IMPACTS...WATER LEVELS AND IMPACTS WILL BE SIMILAR TO WHAT WAS
OBSERVED LAST NIGHT, WITH MINOR FLOODING OF LAKES AND LOW LYING
AREAS.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...WINDS LAST NIGHT WERE OUT OF THE SOUTHEAST
AT AROUND 15 TO 30 MPH. WINDS TONIGHT WILL BE A BIT WEAKER AND
WILL TAKE ON A MORE EASTERLY DIRECTION. WHILE THIS WIND
DIRECTION IS NOT TYPICALLY FAVORABLE FOR COASTAL FLOODING, THE
GROUND IS SATURATED DUE TO LAST NIGHT'S FLOODING AND RISING
WATER LEVELS WILL COINCIDE WITH THE HIGH TIDE, EXPECTEDLY STRONG
DUE TO THE FULL MOON. ADDITIONALLY, DUE TO THE LACK OF ABUNDANT
SHOREFAST ICE, THIS WILL ALLOW FOR HIGHER WATER LEVELS. OTHER
COMMUNITIES ALONG THE KUSKOKWIM DELTA COAST MAY SEE ELEVATED
WATER LEVELS IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS SIMILARLY TO LAST NIGHT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT ONSHORE WINDS AND TIDES
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE FLOODING OF LOW AREAS ALONG THE SHORE.
