PORTLAND SO FAR THIS SEASON...  
 
IF YOU LIVE IN PORTLAND AND IT SEEMS LIKE NIGHTS HAVE BEEN WARMER  
THAN USUAL THIS SUMMER, YOUR SENSE IS CORRECT. WHILE AFTERNOON HIGH  
TEMPERATURES HAVE THUS FAR BEEN CLOSER TO NORMAL THAN MANY OF OUR  
RECENT SUMMERS, OVERNIGHT LOW TEMPERATURES HAVE BEEN UNUSUALLY WARM  
THIS SEASON.  
 
WHILE 1981-2010 AVERAGE DAILY LOW TEMPERATURES AT PORTLAND AIRPORT  
PEAK AT 59 DEGREES DURING LATE JULY AND EARLY AUGUST, TEMPERATURES  
HAVE STRUGGLED TO FALL INTO THE 50S THIS SUMMER. IN FACT, THROUGH  
AUGUST 14TH, THIS SEASON HAS HAD THE 3RD MOST CALENDAR DAYS WHERE  
TEMPERATURES FAILED TO FALL BELOW 60 DEGREES:
