DAILY RIVER AND LAKE SUMMARY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA SC
1139 AM EDT MON JUL 15 2019

..ALL RIVERS REMAIN BELOW FLOOD STAGE

HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT WILL KEEP A VERY WARM AND MOIST AIR MASS
IN PLACE ACROSS THE REGION THROUGH WEDNESDAY. WEAKLY SINKING
AIR WILL TEND TO INHIBIT THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT, WITH JUST
ISOLATED TO WIDELY SCATTERED ACTIVITY EXPECTED EACH DAY DURING
THE MID- TO LATE AFTERNOON. THURSDAY INTO SATURDAY, THE HIGH
PRESSURE WILL SHIFT FARTHER EAST AND ALLOW AN ONSHORE FLOW TO
DEVELOP, WITH INCREASED THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY EXPECTED.

THE MOST SIGNIFICANT THREAT THROUGH THE WEEK IS LOCALIZED AND
SHORT-LIVED FLOODING OF ROADS, URBAN AREAS AND LOW-LYING AREAS
ASSOCIATED WITH SLOW-MOVING THUNDERSTORM CORES. SLOWLY FALLING
RIVERS ARE EXPECTED OVERALL, WITH SOME FLUCTUATIONS DUE TO
HYDRO POWER GENERATION UPSTREAM AND ASSOCIATED WATER RELEASES.
