..FREEZING TEMPERATURES AWAY FROM THE BEACHES TONIGHT
 
 
COLD HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD SOUTH INTO THE REGION TONIGHT.  
FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE LIKELY FOR MUCH OF SOUTHEAST SOUTH  
CAROLINA AND SOUTHEAST GEORGIA AWAY FROM THE BEACHES WITH A HARD  
FREEZE POSSIBLE WELL INLAND. LOW TEMPERATURES SATURDAY MORNING  
ARE EXPECTED TO DROP INTO THE MID TO UPPER 20S INLAND TO THE UPPER  
20S TO AROUND FREEZING ACROSS THE COASTAL COUNTIES. FOR THE  
BEACHES, LOWS WILL ONLY DROP INTO THE MID 30S.  
 
MANY TREES AND FLOWERING PLANTS HAVE STARTED TO LEAF OUT AND  
BLOOM DUE TO THE UNSUALLY WARM WEATHER OBSERVED IN JANUARY AND  
INTO MUCH OF FEBRUARY. THE COLD WEATHER TONIGHT COULD DAMAGE OR  
KILL TENDER VEGETATION AND ACTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PROTECT COLD  
SENSITIVE PLANTS AND TREES EVEN THOUGH A FREEZE WARNING IS NOT IN  
EFFECT.  
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...  
 
APPROPRIATE ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN TO ENSURE TENDER VEGETATION  
AND OUTDOOR PETS HAVE ADEQUATE PROTECTION FROM THE COLD  
TEMPERATURES.  
 
YOUNG CHILDREN, THE ELDERLY AND THE HOMELESS ARE ESPECIALLY  
VULNERABLE TO THE COLD. TAKE MEASURES TO PROTECT THEM. BE SURE TO  
DRESS IN WARM CLOTHES BEFORE YOU HEAD OUTSIDE.
