DISCUSSION

RAIN AND SLEET WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE EVENT LOCATION THROUGH 1PM THIS AFTERNOON BEFORE
A TRANSITION TO WET SNOW AND SLEET FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE AFTERNOON INTO THE EARLY
EVENING HOURS. TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO HOVER IN THE MID TO UPPER 30S PRIOR TO 3PM
BEFORE FALLING LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND INTO THE EARLY EVENING HOURS. SNOW CHARACTER WILL
REMAIN WET AS A RESULT WITH RATES UP TO 1"/HR AS THE HEAVIEST PRECIP FALLS BETWEEN 2-5PM.
WINTER PRECIPITATION WILL EXIT THE EVENT LOCATION BETWEEN 7-9PM. EXPECTED SNOWFALL AMOUNTS
WILL RANGE BETWEEN 1-3 INCHES ACROSS THE IMMEDIATE WASHINGTON DC AREA. AMOUNTS MAY TREND
TOWARD THE LOWER END OF THE RANGE GIVEN THE WARMER AIR ALOFT HANGING ON LONGER.

SKIES WILL SLOWLY CLEAR TONIGHT AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS INTO THE REGION. NORTHWEST WINDS
WILL INCREASE TO 12 TO 18 MPH SUSTAINED WITH GUSTS UP TO 25 MPH AT TIMES AS LOW PRESSURE
DEPARTS THE REGION. THESE INCREASED NORTHWESTERLY WINDS WILL PUSH LOW TEMPERATURES DOWN
TO 20 DEGREES. THE COMBINATION OF INCREASED NORTHWESTERLY WINDS AND COLD TEMPERATURES WILL
YIELD WIND CHILLS IN THE MID TO UPPER TEENS LATER THIS EVENING AND INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS.

BRISK AND BLUSTERY CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED MONDAY AS ARCTIC HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS INTO THE
REGION. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL STRUGGLE TO PUSH INTO THE LOW 20S WITH NORTHWEST GUSTS
SUSTAINED AT 12 TO 18 MPH GUSTING UP TO 35 MPH AT TIMES. THIS WILL YIELD WIND CHILLS
IN THE UPPER SINGLE DIGITS THROUGHOUT THE DAY. WIND CHILLS WILL CONTINUE TO FALL LATE
AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING WITH SUBZERO VALUES EXPECTED MONDAY NIGHT. DRY CONDITIONS WILL
PREVAIL WITH NO ADDITIONAL PRECIPITATION EXPECTED.
