WEATHER SUMMARY FOR EASTERN NEBRASKA AND SOUTHWEST IOWA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OMAHA/VALLEY NE
408 AM CDT THU SEP 21 2017

SKIES WERE CLEAR OVERNIGHT IN NORTHEAST NEBRASKA, BUT CLOUDS BEGAN
TO INCREASE AFTER MIDNIGHT IN SOUTHEAST NEBRASKA AND SOUTHWEST IOWA.
A FEW SHOWERS WERE ALSO TRYING TO DEVELOP IN SOUTHWEST IOWA AS OF 4
AM, BUT NOT MUCH MORE THAN SPRINKLES WERE REACHING THE GROUND.
TEMPERATURES AT 4 O'CLOCK VARIED GREATLY ACROSS THE AREA, AVERAGING
THE LOW TO MID 50S IN NORTHEAST NEBRASKA UNDER CLEAR SKIES, AND THE
MID AND UPPER 60S IN SOUTHEAST NEBRASKA AND SOUTHWEST IOWA. THE
COOLEST SPOT WAS ALBION NEBRASKA AT 50 DEGREES, WHILE FALLS CITY HAD
THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT 70 DEGREES.

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DEEPENING IN THE HIGH PLAINS OF WYOMING AND
COLORADO WILL BRING STRONG SOUTHERLY WINDS, WARMER TEMPERATURES AND
MORE HUMIDITY TO MUCH OF MID AMERICA TODAY. AN ISOLATED SHOWER OR
THUNDERSTORM COULD DEVELOP DURING THE MORNING IN NORTHERN MISSOURI
OR SOUTHERN IOWA, BUT THE REST OF THE REGION SHOULD REMAIN DRY.

SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL CONTINUE OVERNIGHT, BUT A COLD FRONT IS
FORECAST TO DRIFT INTO CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA AND WESTERN NEBRASKA
TURNING WINDS TO THE NORTH AND DRAWING COOLER TEMPERATURES SOUTH
BEHIND IT. NO PRECIPITATION IS FORECAST ALONG THE FRONT TONIGHT, BUT
WILL BE THE FOCUS FOR THUNDERSTORMS LATER THIS WEEK AND THE WEEKEND.

UNDER MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES, HIGH TEMPERATURES THIS AFTERNOON WILL
CLIMB INTO THE 80S AND AND 90S ACROSS ALL OF MID AMERICA. THEN
TONIGHT, EXPECT LOW TO RANGE FROM THE 40S BEHIND THE COLD FRONT IN
WESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA AND WESTERN NEBRASKA, TO THE 70S IN IOWA,
MISSOURI, MUCH OF KANSAS AND EASTERN NEBRASKA.
