GRASS FIRE DANGER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
338 AM CST SAT FEB 3 2018

...ELEVATED FIRE THREAT LATE THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON
ALONG AND WEST OF A GRAHAM TO EASTLAND LINE DUE TO A COMBINATION
OF DRY FUELS...STRONG WINDS...AND WARM TEMPERATURES...

SOUTHERLY WINDS OF 15-20 MPH WILL OCCUR STARTING LATE THIS
MORNING AND CONTINUING THROUGH THE AFTERNOON HOURS. THESE STRONG
WINDS WILL QUICKLY DRAW HIGHER LOW LEVEL MOISTURE INTO THE REGION
WHICH WILL YIELD SLIGHTLY ELEVATED MINIMUM RH VALUES IN THE LOWER
TO MID 30S. HOWEVER, FUEL CONDITIONS ARE VERY DRY IN THIS AREA AS
INDICATED BY NEAR RECORD HIGH ERC VALUES. THE COMBINATION OF DRY
CONDITIONS, TEMPERATURES NEAR 70 DEGREES, AND THE STRONG WINDS IS
EXPECTED TO RESULT IN AN ELEVATED FIRE THREAT IN THESE 3 COUNTIES
TODAY. WIND SPEEDS WILL DIMINISH NEAR SUNSET AS A SURFACE LOW
MOVES INTO THE AREA.

EXTREME CARE IS URGED DURING ALL OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES WHERE THERE
IS A POTENTIAL FOR GRASS FIRES TO GET STARTED. AVOID OUTSIDE
BURNING AND WELDING. DO NOT TOSS LIT CIGARETTE BUTTS OUTSIDE.
REPORT WILD FIRES TO THE NEAREST FIRE DEPARTMENT OR LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICE QUICKLY.
